Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I see some things are not changing

I was laid off before the pandemic and the thing that stuck with me was that everybody who I knew that also got laid off was somebody I knew of as a good and hard-working employee. Knowing some of the people who remain made even less sense. I was bitter about it for a while but I've moved on since then. I came back to see if things have changed or stayed the same and browsing through older posts, especially from the latest layoffs, I see nothing has changed. Good people are still getting cut and the lazy ones remain. T seems to be consistent at that if nothing else.

"OP is the angry laid off person that disparages all of the people that remain. OK dude. Work on your relationship with your next Boss a little more. "

I've honestly heard the same story for decades, one of the reasons I stopped going to general reunions and retiree parties. Since "they" left, it's all imploding and nobody remaining knows anything. "Back in the good old days", everyone was tops in their field and no problem was too big to solve as #1 ESS was installed and new copper was getting run everywhere.

Where's my WeCo keyset manual? Has anyone seen where the paper BSP's have been moved?

I'm still friends with, and see some log-retired folks on a regular basis, but they're not the folks who believe the company can't survive without them and repeat the same stories ad-nauseum at group functions.

OP is the angry laid off person that disparages all of the people that remain. OK dude. Work on your relationship with your next Boss a little more. What I mean by that is don't be a pain in his/ her a$$. Don't be in the 10% of the people that take 90% of their time. This probably won't help you, as you're the type that has already determined that everyone else is the problem. "I was bitter about it for a while but I've moved on since then...". Sure you have dude; sure you have. That's why you're here, right? LOL.

Cuts are made to improve the balance sheet/bottom line which is not a sustainable business model. Recent cuts with no understanding of the business and those individual contributions will bite them in a-s one day. Keep your head up and don’t take anything personal this POS leadership team is doing. When sh-t hits the fan and real work has to be done, AT&T’s skilled workforce will be gone..let’s be clean, just cutting a PO to hire a contractor is not the answer.

It’s not about hard work it’s about contributing. Working your bu-t off on a product that’s retiring is not valued as much as giving a few ideas on a new offering. You have to know someone to get on the projects that will get you recognized. If you know someone and get on a high profile project you are golden. It’s how corporate America works.
