Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Each team will lose someone every year through ‘assessment’.

Valid in all countries, even low cost like India, where they will hire and fire continuously.

Attrition target is very high, if things are not changing its because not enough people are leaving.

No career development for majority as part of strategy.

Leave and find new jobs while you are young, especially campus hires in Houston or BTC. Even if you are less than a year, you will be assessed to potentially get fired.

In next management forum ask : “explain details of assessment process on how bottom performers are selected.” The truth is each supervisor is sacrificing people on their team because there is nothing else they can do. They are forced.

Of course you will get a different response, but its a lie and all your managers know it. Some may even fight it but majority follow their bosses without any Courage of Conviction.

The company doesn’t want to pay severence, plus it wants its employees to live in fear and work more than normal by threatening them with a ‘Needs Improvement’ label.

We are ExxonMobil, a bunch of lying executives and powerless but arrogant managers. We don’t Care, We don’t have Integrity, We don’t have Courage. We Pretend.

We just lie and have lost our self belief and self worth. We continue taking BS as long as our bills get paid.

The We does not include you, dear reader. You are amazing and have a whole life ahead of you, which can go anywhere. Do not get demotivated by this unethical company. There will be better things, keep your head up and work your exit.

Especially for us in the USA, unfortunately things go only downward, but we’ll find a way. Don’t be harsh on low country counterparts, they will eventually suffer the same.

Stay honest, stay humble.

I wish you all the very best in your lives.

There may not be a legal requirement to pay severance. But there is to allow a laid off employee to draw unemployment. If the company labels an employee as "terminated based on performance," the company has the "right to contest" if the terminated employee tries to draw unemployment

I really hope a class action lawsuit comes out of this bu-----t. It’s one thing to be an at will employer but it’s another to have disgusting business practices like disguising people as poor performers so they don’t get severance or unemployment to support themselves after laying them off by any other name.
