Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Subsurface platform is a disaster

Who on the Subsurface platform is looking forward to another long winded "listen to your leader tell you how it is" ? Our leader, a petrotech, has no business trying to run a complicated modernization operation whilst cutting resources and constantly changing priorities.

Where is the prioritization? Where is the voice of the customer? Why are the BU modernization teams so out of sync with the platform?

I hope our fearless and not to be disagreed with leader gets moved out of this role ASAP.

BU solutions are great but they will end with these new solutions.

subsurface platform is pointless because very business unit has their own subsurface delivery team that includes information management as well as digital solutions for subsurface.

Still a bunch of hand waving with triple crown. Delfi deployment was and still is an absolute disaster. Maybe when JG actually retires, this thing will just stop, and we can go back to doing real work. If triple crown is the way of life in subsurface, good luck to next people who inherit this mess. This is an embarrassment that came to fruition because our very non-technical executives got together at a fancy SLB party in Monaco. Complete waste of time and effort. How many BUSINESS UNITS actually care about OSDU? None.

No, it's not poor behaviors and lack of change management plan and trust. It's something that has gone on for several years without progress and it's sunk cost that we should be moving on from. But our execs are too nice to hurt people's feelings.

Most Upstream value is created at the leasing phase. Chevron has not had “luck” at this in many years.

Subsurface are their own worst enemies - nobody is sure if they create value or not.

Clearly delusional if you can’t see the problems and use the sorry excuse of complaining or whining. Step one is admitting you have a problem. Which brings us back to the main point…of why MW and JG are missing the mark as leaders and we see attrition continue to climb.

I agree with the last post, this is a non issue and just a few butthurt losers who can't carry their weight complaining on this thread. Both Subsurface and Surface have great leads and get the job done, unlike most who waste all day posting here.

I really didn't have any problem with Subsurface, surface, any of that. Don't know what all the fuss is about, lol.

Is this related to layoffs or just another long winded entitled loser whining about a bunch of nothing on the layoffs board when the rest of us don't even have a job?

It’s rampant. Subsurface, surface. IT. CTC. HR. Wells. Projects, HSE, ABU, MCBU, etc. complete disarray. No place is safe. Similar themes - lots of talk, hand waving and no substance or results. Depressing to see.

You should see Surface - leadership is MIA, silent, finding someone to blame or just embarrassing themselves in meetings.

I’m not sure how the selection process went down. I had a very good rating and got left standing. It’s ok as I ended up getting a really interesting career advancement opportunity somewhere else and a nice severance package. However, I think people bashing the CVX culture on here should really think twice. Yes many other companies are faster-paced and more-decisive but that just creates more work-related stress sometimes. 9/80s aren’t common in corporate America and that’s like 26 fewer days “off”. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. I would have preferred to have kept my Chevron career but oh well.

subsurface RTEs are the reason why the platform is a disaster.

the platform manager and his triple crown manager are both useless. lots of videos. lots of talk. no substance at all. what have they delivered? the triple crown interviews are really great on workplace. interviewing agile IT people for a subsurface crowd, really?

The subsurface leaders are quite weak but the Asset Class managers are the worst!

Subsurface ended up with some truly terrible and poorly qualified leaders this time. With luck they will all retire or be run off soon as the platform struggles to deliver and BUs continue to gripe.

This also deserves a wide cost revision, before promises and after the groundbreaking implementation. Is this actually beneficial for CVX?
