Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Raises

Does anybody know if the raises will attempt to make up for getting no raises last year?

Raises will be given.
They will not be market correction level nor will they address the salary freezes last year, but in general will slightly higher than norm.
Along with the additional timeoff and padding the bonus payout, these are tactics that they need to do in order to try and slow the talent leaving the company.
The good news is that for employees who are trying to tough it out, the layoffs over the next couple months should be smaller than planned since so many highly talented employees are leaving weekly.

A friend who got laid off last month accepted a similar position for 20% more than their Nike salary, plus more PTO and holidays, excellent benefits and what appears to be a highly functional workplace.

Yeah I guess lots of people assume this is a website so must be tech workers posting :-)

Where all nike tech salary is below market. Biggest reason is because they don't offer RSU's like many other companies. Places like ebay might be 10-20k more yearly but they also have like 50k a year of RSU.

I do think if you make it to E band at nike to be able to live in portland and have nike work life balance it is sorta the sweet spot.....but those jobs are few compared to U bands.

I still don’t understand why so many people think that everyone at Nike is paid below market.

Im actually paid near top of market for my role and I know several others who are as well. I realize it’s probably highly variable depending on what you do at Nike. If you have a “soft skill” job (think marketing, brand, etc.) you may very well be underpaid. I have a “hard skill” job (think chemist, financial analyst, etc.) where if I quit tomorrow 10 other employers would be happy to hire me next week.

Seems a lot of people who post here don’t appreciate or don’t know that pay dynamics at Nike aren’t the same across the company or different job functions.

@1qoi - that is generous by Nike standards.
But still falls far short of the mark.
How long do they thing employees will accept being paid 20% below market and getting a raise to bring them up to 19% below market?
The old "coolness" of working at Nike is no longer the benefit that used to be leveraged to entice people to stick it out.

Standard is 3.5% this year — unless your manager “invests” in you at 5% or 6% — or you’ve hit your salary range max and get nada.

Yeah but market pay rates have gone up so basically everyone at nike is really underpaid now and sounds like only way to get close to market is to leave.

I don’t “know”. But I doubt it.

I think the fact that Nike still gave 100% bonuses last year was itself the make up. Honestly I’m OK with that because they didn’t have to give bonuses at all. I was pleasantly surprised when they did.
