Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New record for leaving the company

In the last week, I’ve seen one announcement a day on LinkedIn about people leaving EM, which is definitely an accelerated rate compared to previous months. Today I see three such announcements. This rate obviously depends on each persons’ network, but since that hasn’t been significantly expanded, the rate is telling. They say they want to keep this up for the next five years; we can only hope that VPs know how to turn lights off, because by then they’re going to be all alone.

Don't expect LI to be honest. You get that partly here. And those of us who left are holding back because we don't want to be personally identifiable...

Honestly leaving was the best thing that happened to my mental health.

Never being able to speak the truth to management is damaging for the company and personnel, but do it, and you will find yourself on the PIP list in no time. Experience a life crisis, and you will find yourself on the list. Been a bad employee in the past, but you are a good employee now? Welcome to the list too.

My LinkedIn feed is blowing up with resignations. I just wish people would be honest. None of this oh thank you for such a great experience BS. They resigned! Don’t try tell me you left because it was such a great place. I’d like to see people be real. Unbelievable how people buy into the brainwashed thinking of we have the best people blah blah blah

Top 20% RSU earning friends of mine have left. Others and myself are planning to leave. Management is too inept to do anything about it. Stupid sunflowers.

Since management wants to see 15% fewer office staff (5000 people). They are very comfortable with voluntary attrition. You will only see concern when top 20% folks start to leave or certain critical skills

Umm more like 20% Attrition plus the pip program. Forcing old folk out and hiring younger folks. If you are bad azz at what you do, climbed the ladder then there is a target on your back. Get out before it’s too late. When I was younger I thought the older folks were ungrateful. Now that I am the older person, I understand. When you hit a certain age it doesn’t matter if your a genius. There’s nothing you can do to make your ranking go up. They will continue to add work to you until you leave or die. That is unless your anointed into management and make a deal with the devil. One day these folks will have to look in the mirror and they aren’t going to like what’s staring back at them. A technically dead hollow person that is no longer a marketable commodity. That’s why these managers are so self serving. They don’t look into the mirror very often. Stay sharp and close to the pipe. They can beat you down but they will never have your technical ability, character or integrity. Reality is they are scared to death of losing their job and they are even more scared of you.

So we’ve got somebody here who can’t tell the difference between absolute numbers and an increasing rate. For us humble workers, that’s NSI material. For EM management, that’s high potential.

@fze Wow can't even do basic math or when did we get over 3 million employees? Plus it's based on their # within the LI network 🙄.

one announcement per day is 365 per year...BIG DEAL...less than 0.01% attrition rate
