Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I’ve never been more demoralized

How bad is morale these days? As for me, I’ve never been more demoralized, and I’ve been working here for a long time. I used to be proud to work here, and now I can’t wait to get my first solid offer and get out of here. I can no longer bear the fact that incompetent people so easily come to positions that exceed their competencies.

Tech will be even more blazing hot if Biden actually does get rid of the noncompete clause, that I can assure you. I know maaannyyy citi folk, manger too, who were perfect for a position elsewhere but couldn’t leave because it was in conflict with other companies as per Citi. If this comes to pass, ouch. Exodus galore.

Yeah, tech is blazing HOT right now that for sure. It’s a techie’s job market to say the least. Coders, admins, security, cloud, data center hardware, you name it.

I think it depends on your role. If you’re a investment advisor, then yes, you are locked into the financial industry. If you are a programmer or such technical role, then you are not. In those cases your skills are portable elsewhere. The high turnover in those areas is proof of that.

What make you think they are going to another banking company? You know there are other companies out there right?

I used to be proud too and then the treatment of the employees and borrowers became more and more intolerable.
I left and could not be happier.
Plenty of places hiring so go for it since it isn’t going to get better.

Agreed. This may be the best thing to happen to you. Not everyone can move up, there simply aren’t enough positions especially if you factor in favoritism, which may or may not have happened. Either way, do your due diligence, research, and give it your best shot. Good luck to you.

To echo what so many on this site have already said, there are TONS of positions out there especially if you are in tech. The tech market is smoking hot right now. So many people leaving its not even funny. Reasons are across the board. More $, better benefits, work from home 100% any combination. I know one person who left for more vacay time. They got an offer for about the same salary and 6 weeks vacay, so they took it. The point being, if you’re not happy, there are other opportunities out there. What’s funny to me is that upper mgmt acts and talks as if Citi is the only company out there that is employing anybody and that just not the case.
