Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford CTO leaves to join Amazon

CTO responsible for EV Architecture leaving according to Freep. He definitely had an inside look at where Ford is heading.

What does it mean when the insiders bail?

Troubles in Oz for our new wizard and us minions?

No one should hold their breath thinking Ford will ever change.
Rule #1 - Ford does not change, you (the employee) shall change.
Rule #2 - If you think you can change Ford, please refer to Rule #1.
Rule #3 - If you end up referring to rule #1 more that twice, your a$$ will be out of Ford pretty soon!

Interesting from one of the comments...the standard HR hiring con they run to get you in and hooked. How many people over the decades have been conned by the "you will be leading our future...you have what we want to change Ford". For me that was approx 22yrs ago. Still today they are running the same line. So new hires, give it a couple years and you too will be an old 'has been". So careful how much you strut around shooting off put downs to your peers because you too will be relegated to the peanut gallery like the rest of us.

I find it interesting that of the tens of thousands of employees in Ford IT, not a single one, including the second in command, is considered promotable into the CIO role.

Good riddance. His departure was long overdue. He was not a car guy and it showed. Here for 7 years and didn't deliver anything monumental. His Directors were the real leaders.

I actually liked him.

A senior/boss says (and I believe him) that before hiring him Ford told him that he will be leading the future of Ford; and take for into the next Era. He agreed to do the job mainly for EV and AV, but he knew regular adv. research stuff like body, materials etc. was also gonna be part of it. And then they took out the main thing he wanted to work on and left him with the residual he never wanted. The countdown began from that point.

Typical Ford bait and switch. What are you gonna do

Just like water and electricity, Ford an electricity don't go well together. They have been plagued for many decades by electrical-related design and quality issues.

There is more to this story as the poster suggests. McGiver engineering at best for EV portfolio. Challenges are big and not sure how Ford will fair in the transition?
