Anyone else dread going back to ‘freestyle’ this Fall? TBH I hated it BEFORE Covid. Scrambling to get in early to find a place to park and sit and it’s like trying to work in a school cafeteria, with constant noise, interruptions, people goofing off. Went home with a headache daily from wearing headphones. Need to go to a meeting? Great, pack up your cr-p and lug it with you, loser. There’s someone six inches away hacking up a lung. And nothing like leaning back in a fabric chair only to realize some stinky jock who couldn't be bothered to shower after a run sat in it right before you. Now I have to spend the rest of the day smelling like road-ki-l skunk? Awesome.
Tired of being a guinea pig for WDC. Granted, they have the unenviable task of trying to make cramming people together sound like a great employee perk, or convincing us that the id--ts yacking it up by the coffee machine are gonna invent the next Post-It Note. Come on. We all know freestyle is just a cost-cutting measure to further line executives pockets. Sick of hearing VPs talk about how excited they are for ‘enhanced opportunities for collaboration, fitness, fun & freedom’ or whatever, when they all have offices. Give me a break.
I’m freaking out about the density of campus this fall and winter. No one knows how long immunity lasts. Who knows if the ventilation is adequate with the new variants? We should have a safe environment to get our work done. Wish we had the option to stay remote, or go back to assigned seating at least until the pandemic is 100% over. Some of us have small children to care for. I predict a ton of employees quit when required back in office. I know for sure I am one of them. Freestyle suuuucks. Sorry but no – I’m not going to risk my life or my family’s lives for this job. Already lining up a remote role, and I’ll bet many others are too.
Maybe if enough people up-vote this, someone will listen. JK it’s a new day at Nike and no one gives a F***.
