Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Enough is enough

I'm getting tired of all the posts about how nobody would join XOM today, how everybody good is gone, how you need to be a loser to still work here... Do you people hear yourselves? I'm going to assume that most of you still work here, I see no other reason for you to still be on this forum. Do you not realize you are putting down not just the people you work with but yourself as well? If all of those claims are true, what does it say about you? But the fact is those claims are not true. Plenty of people still want to work here. It's not the perfect job but it's still one of the better places in the industry. If I'm going to deal with constant layoffs I'd rather deal with them where I know everybody, where I've been for the past ten years, and where I enjoy what I do than somewhere where I'm just starting out. Rant over.

As an employee and stockholder, I would recommend you spend your time helping our company make money so that Dallas can continue increasing the quarterly dividend instead of surfing The Layoff.com.

Perhaps you should consider a CLO course on prioritizing work unless your job description is to distract or encourage employees to stop posting on The Layoff.com

Hey @op the company loves you. We need you. The shareholders need you. Don’t quit please or get your feelings hurt please. Imagine I’m by the elevator as I say this. Better yet read this by the elevator if you must.

“I’m going to deal with constant layoffs”. No OPie, we’re not dealing with constant layoffs, we’re dealing with layoffs disguised as performance improvement issues, illegally targeting people in higher age groups. If you’ve been here for a while, you should be feeling threatened yourself, if you would be a regular employee. But you’re not, because no regular employee would go to a site dedicated to layoffs to throw BS on the heads of normal people. You’re one of those “protected” parasites. Go post your brown, bad smelling stuff on Yammer; even LinkedIn is to dangerous for you, some people will call your BS there.

OP must be one of those peeps who are unemployable everywhere except at ExxonMobil.

He/she is probably signed up for some useless online leadership program, or some two day data science online certificate (money making schemes in top schools).

Please laugh at this id--t and fire him and her during the next layoff event

Some people are just naturally submissive and that’s ok I guess. But most of us want to be treated with respect

It’s a great place to work. As an engineer the money couldn’t be better The time off (28/28) allows me to help run the family business on days off. I love the international travel and work (I have worked in over 35 countries during my career). Thanks to EM, I have save a ton of money over the years, put the kids through college, paid off the house, bought a lovely vacation home (paid cash for it) and enjoyed many of the finer things in life.

I do like reading this board. Reading all the sad sack stories helps re-enforce just how well I have done with my career.

You’ve only got one shot at life. Get out if you don’t like it. You’ll likely be happy for it.

THANK YOU OP- all the gaslighting here is so toxic. Yes. We don’t need to read all the bs posted here. I scan it to see what is being leaked, but it really is unbelievable how many here happily cash their paychecks but are just wishing and hoping this company would implode. Where would your paychecks come from then?! Not everyone is miserable- and it isn’t DisneyWorld either. That’s why it’s called WORK! If you want to work at the happiest place on earth, then grab an Eyorre costume and spout your toxins there- at least you’ll be in the right character.

Wait, wait, wait... your complaint is that a site called "thelayoff.com" has a lot of negative comments?

HA!

Suggest you cruise yammer for those positive vibes...
