Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Would you like to work for a competitor?

I understand people who are so dissatisfied with HON that they would prefer to get a job in competing companies and do everything to make HON lose any advantage over this new employer, to lose market share etc.
However, I could never do that, that is, it would be very difficult for me. I had an offer some time ago and I declined.

Taking a job with a competitor is not about screwing HI over. At least it would not be for me. It would be about doing what is best for me. In another job, HI would be just another company to me. If my new job involved HI in some way, I would do whatever it was that doing my best work in my job. If that meant something good for HI, I would have no problem with it. Just look out for yourself and don’t worry about what happens to HI.

@1abh. I am an engineer who cannot crush the competition today because honeywell cannot manage to plan well enough to keep new product development staffed or funded. Any company that chooses could disrupt honeywell in almost any market by simply deciding to do the work. It wouldn't require amazing engineers. It is likely honeywell could be disrupted by a competitor that attacks honeywell's supply chain. Favorable payment schedules and a more respectful interface would cause honeywell to see a lot of no bid responses...oh wait that is happening now.

Well it was easy for me, and I haven't regretted it since!

In fact my only regret was working for Honeywell in the first place.

@1uhc: Just curious, are you in a current position at HON to crush competitors products and if you went to a competitor would you be in a position to crush HON products?

I guess you aren't old enough to have been hammered by HON. By the time you are old enough to see just how badly they will treat you, you will be too old to find a job elsewhere. You are extremely naive to expect that HON will treat you well. Wake up and smell the coffee. You aren't an asset, you are an expense that the company will strive to minimize or eliminate altogether.

Honeywell leadership under estimates the cumulative negative karma from the systematic exploitation of workers.
Decades of policies that attack employees by
1) changing job titles to compress pay caps.
2) destroying benefits across all areas.
3) persecuting and shaming people with high body weight using bmi as an up charge 4) furloughs.
4) siteclosures
5) mip match changed to once a year.
6) pension frozen at 2015 salary
7) constant musical chairs of what charge numbers good today/ rde defending every quarter.
8) arrogant/embarrassing treatment of suppliers including refusing to pay small businesses in a timely manner sometimes jeopardizes their viability.
9) gross neglect of facility maintenance to include conditions that are life safety issues. ( did your roof collapse?mine did... got mold?.... no matter we are essential workers and must deliver those jdams.)
Resume is out there.
I will gleefully compete against honeywell. Can't wait to crush honeywell products in the marketplace.

There's an incomplete story here...no motive for action taken. What keeps you from leaving? All I can do is shrug because you make no point.

You prefer to enrich honeywell rather than you children?

As an ex manager, let me tell you, once the company knows that you don't have the guts to move, they will let you happily sit there year after year without a promotion. You also are more likely to be 5 blocked so they can justify a pay raise to someone else that they are worried will actually leave.

Loyalty gets you absolutely nothing at HON. If the offer is attractive and what you want and meets your requirements, take it. Simply do the best for them as you would for any other job. The only thing loyalty will get you at HON as you approach 60's is a PIP, or just poor undeserving reviews, and much frustration to entice you to leave.
