Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I have not had direct contact with my boss in 2 months

I know he is still ariund and doing things but its like I have slipped through the cracks. I keep the laptop in the car and hit the beach quite a while.

my reports LOVED me! They never gave me any negative feedback and suddenly one day they were all moved out from under me and to someone else. It was great

It sounds like you ended up on the NOT RELEVANT list and will probably be a target for the next layoff. That's how it works for many.

You think that you are so slick you are the same person hating on people who are working from home. Even the worst id--t would not put anything like this on line. I work from home and my last manager was very engaging we had weekly meetings via video my current supervisor is always engaging Q ing me and calling me so you are just trying to make trouble for people who work from home and you want it to end because you don't have the opportunity

And this is a problem How?

Seriously, most people would give anything to never encounter a boss or supervisor.

When they do show up, it's usually to annoy you about some 3rd lines' super dooper important metric that you couldn't influence if you beat it with a stick.

When I see a T sedan drive up the street, I tell my customer to not answer the door - I tell them the guy is a crazy dude we fired over a year ago and he keeps chasing us around with a fake T decal on his car door.

Don't laugh - it works - had my customers chase off Supes over ten times in the past year alone.

My boss is busy checking the Salesforce app to make sure I went into the office. Never once did anyone ask proof of my passcard. SMH.. Hes also busy with Quantum.

Consider yourself lucky! Most of them are worthless, clueless know nothings anyway! Just speaking from decades of experience!

My previous manager would only talk to me twice a year also, when we had mid-years and the year-end review. He kind of ignored the edict that he needs to talk to every one of his reports monthly. You see, one of Ratty and Stinky's edicts some years ago was to consolidate span of control and collapse levels, and he had the number of people directly reporting to him triple almost. So he concentrated on the needy reports and left the others alone to do their jobs. He would ask for a bullet summary for the twice yearlys. Then he was really good at how he worded the reviews. One of the best I had.

He took the MVO they offered a couple years ago. Had enough of the toxic environment back then even before the current reign of te---r by the Stink. He was smart to get out.

"not having contact with your direct leadership for months on end is not a good indicator for both of you"

Amen. You may be enjoying it now but when they need to cut a head, yours is probably on the block. You clearly have no relationship at all with your boss. It's probably an awkward thing when you do have a conversation (or certainly will be). When the time comes, and he needs to provide a head for the surplus, do you think he picks the person that he has a good relationship with, or you?

I could probably count on both hands the number of times I have seen mine in the past 3 years. It always looks good when they log an observed work day on your S/N day off. I think he is scared of me.

It’s been almost two months for me, but it’s not really a surprise. My manager appears overwhelmed and seems content as long as I get my work done and don’t cause him any issues. Maybe it will change, but it seems like he just has too much on his plate and my job is to keep that plate from getting any fuller. I do like it this way because the autonomy actually motivates me to work harder so I can keep from being micromanaged like many of my previous supervisors have done.

just goes to show att has too many employees. probably keep people around so they can work the strike and as a bargaining chip with the union. hey but keep promoting people to vp that is what's important.

My supervisor always keep postponing my-one-one with lame excuses even though I am a productive and critical member in the team. I spoke with him just once so far this year. I am guessing he is worried that I may ask for a salary hike/promotion or something like that...

Construction is almost as bad. The last two supervisors I’ve had rarely stayed past 10:30.

I don’t k ow what positions you people hold, but not having contact with your direct leadership for months on end is not a good indicator for both of you.
Before you celebrate, you may want to determine the reasons behind the lack of contact. As a former L2/L3…something is brewing.

The only times I have spoken to my supervisor in the past two years were the two ten-minute calls I had with him to review my annual performance appraisals. In my 30+ yeas here he may be the worst human being I've ever worked for, so I'm just fine with that.

Is this the same supervisor who was in his office with the door locked when the 2nd line came into the work center one afternoon .......and he started beating on the door and told him to open it up right now when we were all about to go home .
