Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Hybrid in Sept

Employees have long expressed their concerns with going back to the office too soon. And now look..... the CEO is already saying he wants us to start wearing masks again. Google and Facebook are already telling their employees they are delaying their Sept 1st back to the office start date. And US Bank has already made it clear there is a huge equipment shortage....I wont be surprise if we push back our date again too.

To the person up in arms about using the word "dude"..... If a ton of the people who are working from home are non customer facing roles, what makes you think customers care if they are in the office or not? Also, I completely understand and agree that branch employees do not have that choice to work from home and they should be compensated fairly for being on the front lines. But stop blaming the people who work from home for that. We have no control on how the company is treating those employees. Direct that anger towards upper management.

Email came out today that return to office is delayed to Q4, no specific timing.

AMEN. “Now it's proving that the timing probably isn't great, and the general workforce is acting like they all knew delta variant would be vaccine resistant back in April. Maybe cut everyone some slack here. And if you want remote work, go find it.”

There's no winning here. If the company waited until things were in a good place and told everyone they had 30 days to go back to office, people would complain that it isn't enough time to prepare. Here, they looked at trends and discussed with peer organizations early to say that September would probably be safe, and they gave ample lead time. Now it's proving that the timing probably isn't great, and the general workforce is acting like they all knew delta variant would be vaccine resistant back in April. Maybe cut everyone some slack here. And if you want remote work, go find it.

To the person saying "to the dude" why are you assuming it's a male saying the comment? Seems a little sexist if you ask me... I don't agree with the comment because I am working from home as well but I believe this has caused people to want to work from home instead of being in office.. Our customers want to see our presence in the bank not in our living rooms!! I don't think working from home provides some massive influx of work it just changes the kind of work that needs to be done so spare everybody with the "so much more work from home and more difficult too" I do think it's sad that we have had employees in the front line having to take all the risk and not being compensated for it..

Having worked in several retail businesses and at USB back office in TOS; I'd say they are different but equal work. Public facing employees are woefully underpaid although I am aware that there are many underpaid corporate employees too. All employees need to be respected as human beings. People are not "Resources." Maybe when more of the repeatable tasks are automated; humans may become valued for their humanity instead of being compared with machines.

Work at home is way more work than at office. They ki-l you with conference call after conference call, give you all sorts of assignments and make you work long hours. Seriously, work from home was a nightmare for me.

To the dude who thinks we work 3 hours a day....Always that one person who thinks people are sitting at home doing nothing. Stop being bitter. You sound miserable.

I’m sure you like sitting at home working 3 hours a day while bankers and tellers have never had the option to do that.. Quit being lazy and go back to the office! We work for a bank not Google!!

If employees are going back to the office with their laptops, etc,; How is there an equipment shortage? This makes no sense. Can someone please explain?
