Well if it makes you feel better everyone else will soon be wearing them indoors again.
You’re coming off as sounding a little coddled… my company never closed down and we were wearing masks for about 10 months. It sucked but guess what, that’s what we got paid to do.
As far as remote working go, as a senior leader, I can tell you a few things we’ve experienced at my company
1- productivity has steadily dropped since the outbreak started. I’ve talked with other leaders locally and they all see the same thing happening. Could it be general covid fatigue, possibly, but I think it’s remote work.
2- culture weakens due to remote working and on boarding is significant tougher.
3 - managing who can actually do remote is really tough. Some people have jobs that led themselves to remote and some workers are disciplined enough to do it well but try making a policy that covers that, it’s pretty much impossible. Even if you did, every person who thinks, for whatever reason, that they should be remote but isn’t will start complaining. Complainers are a cancer to the workforce - so I’d do everything in my power to avoid giving the most amount of people a reason to complain. Therefore it’s easier to just make a peanut butter policy - yes it will pi-s off some people, but so will fully remote, so make a decision and then spend my time on things that actually matter
