Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

just get me to 2023 please!

Got about a year and a half left til retirement. This company is so a-s backwards with all the "woke" and "SJW" initiatives. They have simply lost their way and forgotten how a business should be run. If I get hit by an LR sooner than 2023 then all the better. If not I plan to milk it for all I can get.
Was a great place to work for at one time but now just hanging on.
Good luck to those that have the majority of their careers ahead of them, you'll need it> If you don't get LR'ed then you will likely just grow stagnant in an unforgiving, unrewarding company.
My advice, get out while you can and while you still have talents and experience that are still in demand.

Amen to the top poster, I feel the same, and judging by your number of likes, so do many others. I think it is an age related thing too, you've been there, seen it and done it and are just worn out by all the cr-p. All the sh** that keeps coming out the mouths of these senior management people is nauseating. They live in a world of make-believe, so surrounded by sycophants as they are.

The problem with "woke" is that most of us working in high tech were already "woke" before it became a stupid trend. We've been working for YEARS in a blended cultural environment (men, women, different races, etc....whoever is smart and becomes an engineer).
Don't wait around....life is too short. I loved working at Cisco initially, but the constant layoffs became a massive distraction...I watched too many of my good, smart coworkers get hit, and then I did. It makes me sad....Cisco was the "pinnacle" of tech jobs when I started there, but has become an empty shell now. So much potential wasted.

I’m in same boat. Will probably pull pin earlier rather than later.

I wish all those who do not like the "wokeness" to leave please! LR or resign for your greener pastures. Woke is no joke! Stay woke!

If you're going to be due a package upon exit, you should have already told your boss to put you on the list.
Take the $ while it is offered and get another stopgap job at a less woke company. Perhaps some of that $100M they gave away to social racism would have helped, but it is already spent.

If you can't get on the list now, let them know that you're ready to ki-l it on the job until the next stealth layoff (usually February), but you're ready to retire when it makes sense for the company. They're like family!

For someone nearing retirement my advice would be "don't wish time away". Once you're old and gray you'll reminisce about "when" - when I was young, when I was working. Life is short.

The "woke" and "sjw" stuff is a management consultant strategy to distract from our lack of cloud, software, and security offerings. Corporations are smart, not woke...

It's also a great way to divide employees.
