Latest update on the status of the country club: looks like it's going to be demolished to make way for a 75-unit apartment complex that focuses on low-income housing.

Sterling Forest was actually a pretty attactive site last I was there for a DR Exercise in 2011. Shame it's going downhill. But it was pretty empty, even then.
The Country Club looks like it was pretty amazing. Would seem the FAANGs have nothing on old IBM for style and such...
Comes down to one thing... $$$... when IBM was making kick @ss bux... life was good. Not so much now despite still pulling some serious bux out of the market. $70B give or take is big money, to be sure.
IBM Sterling Forest is on its way to looking like this.. weeds popping thru the asphalt and concrete in parking lots and former tennis courts. The building - on a busy day - has (maybe) 3 to 4 dozen inhabitants at most and that's including maintenance, janitorial and security staff. The cafeteria serving hot food is long gone. There used to be over 1500 in the place. When NYS eventually pulls the plug on the tax abatements, say goodbye to this place.
And then there's the ghost town at the former IBM Kingston site - all long in ruins.
It amazes me that the government powers that be didn't make IBM clean up after itself when it closed the site down.
