Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Cenusky

If Husky was im the verge of bankrupsy in the last pull backn why have we now decided to adopt there lean, cheap bussiness modle that chases away any good talent and inovation?

The one responsible for Whiterose is JM whe he was at HSE. We will be just “fine” with JM once he kicks out Alex.

When energy companies are young and growing they are run by a geologist. When they are mature and profitable they are run by an engineer. When they stop making money they are run by an accountant. When they about to go under they are run by a lawyer.

Husky took over Cenovus the day JM moved to Cenovus. He’s slowly pushing out AP while AP is too busy outside the company or hanging out in Hawaii or Victoria or gone fishing. So straighten up it’s gonna be the broken Husky culture at Cenovus, which goes with the kind of ops leadership they’ve retained from both sides

The CFO didn't almost bring Husky to bankrupcy. White Rose brought the company down. And although they fired two executives in July 2019, it was too little too late. Individuals responsible for that project now report to NR.

Short answer: Because Cenovus mgmt is stupid and believes what anyone tells them. Zero critical thinking on their end. When CNRL takes over a company they ditch the leaders one day one because they don’t want interfering from the old mgmt and then they do everything the CNRL way. Not CVE, they bring over the broken mgmt from Husky and then let them change how things are down at CVE. Comes down to basic stupidity on Alex’s part as John slowly pushes him out the door without him even knowing it.

Husky was a very Liberal company the dead weight coasted by and still continue too.. Husky was never lean totally the opposite.. If they downsized another 50% on the Husky side it might work.. Example Cenovus leaders visited Edson last week both areas HUSKY side and CENOVUS side both in same area 2 separate meeting.. Corser meeting approximately 35 Husky workers attended for approx 2000 decks off production at Corser plant with approx 500 wells..(A year ago a test program with each operator taking on 100 wells each in Ansel area and it was 100% successful unfortunately when the layoffs happened they split the wells back to approx 40-50 per op to keep jobs for the leads who were demoted and the special projects guys who were demoted to save there jobs.. The Wolf lake meeting Cenovus operations attended approx 9 attended the Calgary leaders asked where are the rest of the operators (response this is everyone who work both plants and field with approx same number of wells as Husky.. But the two plants Wolf and Peco produce approx 3600 decks.... The numbers speak for themselves
