Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Group divested, employees not part of sale, what happens?

My product has been divested but a group of employees were not included in the sale. HR has said they expect 100% redeployment within IBM, but that effected employees have to find their own job. What happens after the sale if I haven't found a job?

Hoping for someone who has, or knows someone, directly effected can comment rather than speculation.

So now that we know you are part of a sub-group, does your sub-group have anything that is unique which would cause IBM to want to retain your services? Redhat experience, cloud speciality etc etc

@1xvc+1c8kRecD a small % of employees weren't included. Bulk of employees were given offers.

I’m sorry for being so dense, BUT let me ask again. Are you part of a sub group within Kenexa that did not get offered a position (eg something unique within Kenexa), or did everyone (approx 2800 of you) at Kenexa not get offered a position?

Product group is TMS aka Kenexa.

To add a little more context, the sale date is approaching very quickly, and I haven't heard anything about what's going to happen on the back end of it. I fully expect (and hope) that my employment with IBM will come to an end, I'm curious as to what sort of end it will be. I would assume a layoff with a basic package of 30 days or so, but the lack of communication while annoying is very on brand.

Just remember that HR is there to protect IBM from getting sued. If helping you find another job is in IBM's best interest, HR might help you do so ... but they will have absolutely NO PROBLEM getting rid of you if that's what Management tells them to do. I would say your prospects are not good, unfortunately. Start looking for a new job internally in the IBM Global Opportunity Marketplace (GOM) ... but also start a parallel search for opportunities outside of IBM. Good luck, my friend.

Stick your head between your legs and kiss you bootay bye-bye.

Seriously, if you are left on your own to find a new job within IBM, without any sponsorship, you better have some good connections. In a time when IBM is looking to downsize, realistically the odds are against you internally.

It's easy for HR to say they expect 100% deployment, but they aren't backing it up are they? If they meant it, they would have already identified a slot for you, or at the very least be working with you to find a slot. Read between the lines and look after you, because HR and IBM don't care about you - you are a $ expense to them.

What group? What product?

Indirect knowledge. An old friend/coworker's area was sold to a vendor. Those that did not get picked up by the vender where given a RA package and 30 days to vacate. There were NO offers within IBM and a rumor that once the on the RA listed you were black listed and no manager would even talk to you about another inhouse job.
