the company is installing new zoom and video equipment in our office, at all desks (yes, we are back in the office). We have been told it will be mandatory to use and we can not close the camera lens or point it in a different direction. Jamie hates zoom in the office environment, much like many of us, yet it is being forced upon us now. Do as I say, not as I do. Makes absolutely no sense.

Oh it gets even better yet folks. Last Friday they decided everyone must now wear a mask again vaxed or not. I'm dusting off my resume and looking for opportunities that will let me work remote. If JPMC is so he-l bean counting they want to lose IT talent they've just motivated people. They had to shut off responses after only a few hours instead of a few days. Forcing unvaxed people to get tested a few times a week Priceless in the way of id--t moves! lol
Bottom line. The company has a top-down management style. Middle managers get handed their orders and don't actually make an decsisions. I was told by an employee of another large lender who works from home that they made her sign a document that says the company can remotely turn on the microphone to your work laptop and listen in anytime they want.
This isn't JPM specific, every company you go to will have some form of annoyance, but at least with a new company you get to start with a clean slate.
Don't be obtuse....he obviously means Zoom is a pain for interfacing with those who would otherwise be in the same physical office location. I don't know about your team, but I have team members all around the world so the video equipment is handy. As always, the primary posters on this forum demonstrate their dim wit.......and for anyone paranoid that the desk cameras are for monitoring, for the love of god see a therapist.....easy as pie to just review badge records to see who's gone into an office!
Wait, so forcing us to install a stalking apps in our phones is not enough. They have to monitor if you are in your seats too? I already feel very uncomfortable with the apps since I feel they can even hear the noise when my p-e hits the water when going to the bathroom but this is just too ridiculous. They really think being a big name can do whatever they wants!
This is not about zoom at all. It's video surveillance to make sure everyone is in.
Just when you think this place couldn't sink any worse it does....
This will then turn employees against each other about folks who are not in their seats.

I’m glad I quit in June. I had a bad feeling about going back to the office.
