Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Leave your comfort zone

Show of hands, how many of you are still at HON just because you are used to it by now? Not because you enjoy your job, not because you are well compensated, but simply because it's something you know compared to something new that comes with too many unknowns. If you can get rid of that mindset and force yourself to leave your comfort zone, I can guarantee you there are better options available that'll make you excited about work once again. It took me a while to accept what I'm preaching right now, but I'm so much happier since I did. Just a piece of friendly advice from a former coworker.

I agree that changing jobs and location has been mentally stimulating during my 36 years of work. Each time I would say I felt happier. For me the best part was meeting new people, making new friends, and seeing new places too. I regret staying at Honeywell as long as I have, and working with basically the same folks during that time. I think the first 12 years or so at Hon were good times, and that made me try to hang on. 60yo now and not now looking for a new career; something different. I have moved 6 different times. Actually each time I relocated I got my biggest raises too.

I'm only here because I'm on cruise control. Just doing the absolute bare minimum that I can till they decide they've had their fill of my labor then I'm out. I don't even care anymore,I'll be happy to get that tap on the shoulder.

Yup, retired in place.
Not sure there is a single person left besides my boss that even knows my name.
I have never met my boss in person.

I'm staying for now. It's only because I haven't found the right opportunity yet. I have a job and I can be picky about the next one. When I find it, I'll pull the rip cord without burning my bridges.
