Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

October is coming

We must be about 4-5 weeks from the next round of layoffs. What are folks hearing? Any idea which areas will be hit? Expecting the TOS s--t show will get hit as they continue to get rid of Americans and hire more from India.

TOS is Technology Operation Services - The division at USB that manages all aspects of data security and computer related work. It is a very large part of the USB workforce.

Frontline managers and even secondary managers will be clueless on who is getting cut. The true useless class at this company comes up with the plan and executes it. It's all they do, to fool their bosses into thinking they work hard. It's the same dance. 1. Keep cutting people each fall. 2. Re-org, re-org, re-org, 3. Complain that moral is low. 4. Rinse and repeat.

Ask K "the weasel" Witherspoon, for ages he manages to keep building his package without doing anything valuable

A lot of hiring reqs all over have been paused in the few last weeks. Looks like they were lulling managers into thinking the cuts were not in their departments. Also kept the rumors down.

Anyone care to explain why management works so hard to keep employees they know they are going to Lay-Off? I get preventing damage to the business, but I don't get actively discouraging looking for other employment - feels petty and vindictive - like you cant quit your fired.

For some, they have double digit days left in their careers and don't even know it.

Hearing cuts for sure in TOS Payments. Not surprising given the lack of real leadership throughout.

Most companies reward senior employees with a package as they are shown the door. From an HR person at USB, I once heard, why should we reward people that are going to leave anyway with a package. USB would prefer to wait them out.

People I know are doing the bare minimum and hoping their positions get cut. Now that TOS has instituted the new time tracking and reporting, they don't need to ask everyone to send in their list of daily tasks. I'm sure the cut list is already complete. They are just waiting for HR to get the letters ready. Anyone who has been around for any length of time feels entitled to a severance package for all the misery they have endured. I'm certainly glad to be free!

Hopefully TOS middle management is part of the blood bath. So much incompetence and for such a long time. They've never added to anything except the level of employee misery. No need to replace the long serving useless class.

I don’t think anyone is safe, especially TOS. A lot of managers are acting like they know they are leaving - but have to stay on to get the “package”.
