Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dear techs worried about 5G taking your jobs, watch this

This is an official Verizon video released on May 19th, 2021.

Who the he-l is going to want this product on their window?
What about curtains?
How many people could follow these steps?
This company is putting all their eggs in the the 5G basket and this is what they come up with?
I happen to have seen the previous hardware and it was even worse - it required a piece of hardware on both sides of the window with a ribbon cable between them. So I guess they have made progress, but I don't think this is going to fly off the shelves...

You need a node on every other or third telephone pole on every street for this to work....good luck with that.

No one said we shouldn’t pursue 5G, just accept the fact that it’s going to take a looonnng time to cover America, and if we can get a superior fiber product to people’s homes in the mean time, we should do it. We Know that’s a product that will work without window mounted suitcases. Seriously, who decided we should mount these things on glass?????

Wake UP, we can't go back to copper or rollout fiber and not pursue 5G, wireless technology moves on with or without us. Just last week I upgraded my house alarm wireless transmitter to 4G/5G because most wireless house alarms are still using 3G soon to be phased out.
That cell phone you purchased is no longer just a cell phone, its your internet connection, your TV (streaming service), your camera, contact book, alarm clock, recording device, camera, e-mail, etc.

Hopefully, 5G does great in the 80% of the country where wireline has no footprint. It can’t compete with fttp. Wireless may bring in more revenue, but you’re servicing an area 5 times the size. Seems like you wireless guys better get to work. You’re letting us down. BigTime

Hyperlink takes you directly to Verizon Wireless board, found on main page of Verizon, after revenue and contact information, under related companies: Verizon wireless, Yahoo, AOL

^go here^

(Gee, thank you for those Lowell McAdam)

People would rather have a direct fiber line to their home or business in the VZ footprint (and the entire nation if available) as apposed to a VZW device. It’s not 2009 anymore. WiFi is a real & bigger thing now. The 5G non-hype went nowhere. VZW is unsustainable & stagnant, catering to aging boomers & seniors.

People want FiOS if it was available.
They don’t want VZW anymore, thanks to Lowell McAdams’ we are not the JV team historical blunder of a strategy

Let's see here. 2020 numbers! Let see what department in Verizon his carrying the water around here.

Total revenue of $24 billion
Total wireless service revenue of $16 billion
Total VZB revenue of $8 billion

Seems to me VZW is the bread winner within the Verizon family and because VZW is such, VZW topics will come into play on a "Verizon" board. Like it or not wireline, you don't rate to have your own spot here whereas Verizon Wireless does. We can post anything about "Verizon" here so deal with it or leave, either way we don't care.

4G was terrible at launch too! It took years to get VOLTE to even work, years, Remember Metro PCS... you can thank them for VOLTE! So p-o 5G all you want.. in 4 or 5 years when customers start disconnect their home internet like crazy because of it you all will be singing a different tune. 10 years ago everyone I know had a pots line. I don't know a single person that has a pots line now. In fact I don't know a single person that has TV service anymore. They stream 100% everything, including myself! So keep dumping on 5G just like all of you dumped on 4G! Yeah! I remember all you tools saying 3G would never go away as 4G was horrible! Now 4G is the world standard as 5G is walking to the plate. And for all you bone heads out there that don't know exactly what 5G is let me d-mb it down for you. 5G can operate in any RF spectrum. 5G is a signaling protocol, it is not tied to a Freq band in a specific way. 5G is being deployed all the way down in the 450Mhz band and might even end up in the 150Mhz band down the road. So yack all you want about 5G and it being horrible, it's where it's at and where it's going and either get on with it out get the H3LL out of the way!

“5G equip doesn't get returned to stores, it get mailed back“

Then Verizon should just mail it to the customers in the first place and close the stores. No need for stores apparently.

There are no techs worried about 5G taking their jobs. We will all be here until we decide to leave. End of Story.

Well this is not true as we have had no returned to my store that I am aware of. Maybe you should just stop making things up and get back to work instead of being all Bvtt hurt that 5G will for the most part reduce the need for people like you. Given time many jobs go obsolete! Get used to it!

"And all 6 are returned to the same store by disappointed"

“We sell about 6 of these a day out of my store. So don't kid yourself, people are cutting the cord!“

And all 6 are returned to the same store by disappointed, underwhelmed, angry or annoyed boomer/senior customer within a week or two.
