Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Moving to Portland, have a housing question.

Family of 4 (mom/dad/8-year-old twins) is about to move to Portland. What kind of house can we expect in a $800K range and what'd be recommended streets or neighborhoods... Good schools would be important and proximity to the HQ plays the role too. Please let me know.

Are you kidding? Are you actually kidding?? Who the F goes on a forum about layoffs and asks a question like this? Obviously relocating from California. Typical. And to boast about how much money you have to spend on a house is doubling down on how inconsiderate and out of touch you are. You do know you people are causing a housing crisis for Oregonians right? You do know that people have been laid off and probably lost their house right? Grow the F up. I’m so disgusted to see this kind of post here.

@byq...

Since you are clearly a dullard, here is one of the SEVERAL posts in the GTcreorg thread from someone who lost their job (Posted by @8feb+1cIxSrWz)

"Had my conversation and was told my role stops existing. Not even a thank you for the more than 15 years of service before shown the door. That is how much Nike cares about you as employee.

Senior GT management is the worst I have seen in all those years. Only ego’s thinking about themselves and scared to lead because they are clinging to their status and afraid they might upset someone higher up.

I so hope that the reorg will bring change for the real heroes. The V,A,L and some U banders that make their leaders look good.

I also hope that Nike will recover from short term gains focus and will focus back on the culture that made the company big. This company used to have b*lls and lead the way. Now it’s just another large corporation that cares about making money.

@OP - the fact you are so F- ing tone deaf to put this post in this forum is exhausting. I heard SE 82nd and Division is a really sweet area. Check it out!!

Well, this got dark quickly.
See what happens when you post "new job relocation" questions in a LAYOFF forum, @OP+1cIgIfwo?

wow one of those insurrection and attempted coup nut cases.....never seen a coup attempt without a single g-n lol. Gonna take over this country with my american flag!! Lol

Yeah don't move to Portland it is a sh-t ho-e...was down town at the art festival this weekend and in the middle of the afternoon 2 blocks away shooting and 3 people shot. Live in the burbs.
Also you might want to look at Washington. There is no state income tax and from what I understand you only have to pay Oregon state income tax for the days you actually work in oregon...and with the new 3/2 office/remote work plan...maybe the 3 days of long commute could be worth it.

Cheers and expect lots of Antifa rhetoric in portland...they are supported by most of the city and politicians....and who ever doesn't support them doesn't speak out against them because they will destroy your home or business.

FU right back @1ggc. We moved away six months ago after living in Portland for 5+ years. It's a cesspool of intolerance and id--ts.

Interesting that you think rioting every night and not allowing the police to actually do their jobs is okay. Shows the author of the post what Portlanders are really like.

FU @1kcd+1cIgIfwo... I noticed that you wrote "there" and not "here"... undoubtedly meaning that you're just another Feux News sheep who needs to pull your head out of your a$$ and see the truth and not just what Feux News wants you to hear about Portland and other blue cities. What, no mention of the (real) anarchists who led an insurrection and attempted coup of our nation's capitol 8 months ago??

As to the HOUSING question, I'd try to stay in the Beaverton, Hillsboro, Bethany, and Aloha / Cooper Mountain area... the commute to anywhere else it NOT worth any potential savings IMO. Stating the obvious here, but put a filter from 700-900 in ZIllow / Red Fin, and compare to that of other areas.

If you are smart you wouldn't move there at all. High taxes, inept politicians (more so than normal) and the state employees pension plan will likely cause the state to go bankrupt at some point. Not to mention the celebrated anarchists that riot in downtown Portland regularly.

You are tone deaf. Beware Nike: you’re hiring people who don’t know how to do a basic web search. Stay where you are, we don’t want you here.

Unless you want to spend 2-3 hrs sitting in traffic every day your best bet is staying on the west side of the hills. Unfortunately, there's zero character and anything to distinguish those cities from any other metro area suburb in the US. If you're able to work remotely you can find some nice homes with a lot of property if you feel like crossing the river and living in Camas or Washougal. Camas has amazing schools.

I don't know much about schools but I would rather live in the west hills area then cooper mountain as previous post is. Cooper mountain prob get more house for $ but is sorta in middle of no where. Figure anything from Nike North to Skyline at the top of the hill and to the east barnes road and to the west 185th...maybe push out to cornealious pass.

Lots of folks like the east side of portland is more walkable and small business...but commute is horrible and with increased violence in portland i would not want to live there.

No.
Wrong forum.
We are about to go through a major reorg.
Wrong place, and terrible timing.

The pandemic has heated the real estate market up. Prices are going up at a double digit annual rate. I'd say, pick the school first, and then look at houses that belong to that school.

Here is one that's pretty good for $775K, good schools too...
