Question for AT&T Medicare eligible retirees

I just received the initial notification regarding 2022 medical options in the mail. There are two options - the AT&T PPO offered through United Healthcare, and a individual medical plan purchased through the Aon Retiree Health Exchange which I currently have and would highly recommend as the better option, although obviously your choice. The $4,700 annual subsidy is a much better deal than the PPO where you pay >$100 a month for coverage for your spouse and no subsidy-to me it seems like a no brainer.

My question is are there any Medicare eligible retirees on this website currently subscribed to the PPO option? what is your experience and how happy are you with that option? The reason this is important information is that the Aon option is likely to be eliminated after 2023.

I'd also think it might be useful to all retirees to see what others are deciding-

UP ARROW Aon
DOWN ARROW PPO

Everyone's Medicare coverage is different based on health status of the person and their needs. Medicare Advantage plans seem really good for people mostly pretty healthy with few medical needs, and those with lots of issues fare better with a plan F or G plan. Of course if you go the F or G route you need to buy at least a plan D or something from AON to qualify for the $2700 HRA account. Who knows what will happen after 2023, My suspect is everyone will only get the Advantage plan option, as that's the least costly for the company, as they get money from Medicare regardless of use.

In 2021 I was on the Aetna PPO, no premiums, but did have reasonable out of pockets. A number of my doctors not recognized on the plan and 2 life sustaining meds not covered at all. I just checked for 2022 on AON Online, it gets worse. UHC PPO covers none of my doctors and does not cover most of my meds. Aetna PPO is showing a $23,000 out of pocket. I could not believe what I was seeing. I scheduled a telephone appointment next week with the AON broker to help me make sense of it all.

If you are eligible for a subsidy, the premium for the AT&T plan was waived, at least for occupational last year. It still wasn't a better deal for me than hanging onto the HRA subsidy and getting the $0 AARP plan which included dental and vision.

Not expecting to make a change this year.

I have Medicare Part B Humana and Cigna for dental. I pay $186 per month, then get a credit for full amount from T Medicare eligible reimbursement program. Really gonna miss this starting 01/2023. Thanks Stankey!
