Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Return to office 9/9

for those who came in today. what are your thoughts?
what % would you say have returned?

I dont believe what flagescape says. It's all propaganda and they want to drive RTO for layoffs.

Don't be extreme, more like mildly infuriating

We were given a supply of surgical type masks and supposed to use those when away from our desks in Texas. Security scolded me for walking in wearing an N95 and demanded I put on the less effective mask to stay in compliance. I couldn't get mad at security because they were just doing what they're told, but the absurdity is real.

They’re still not following the indoor mask mandate for Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) and pretty much flaunting it.
The company line is that social distancing is enough. That’s not what the mask mandate says.

They did not put up plexiglass barricades for desks that face each other. I spoke up about it and the official word is that they decided against due to safety reasons, whatever that means.

We are supposed to wear a mask anytime with another person so why bother gathering with other people. We just ended up on the phone with one another anyway. I. am creating my own hybrid until someone tells me otherwise.

During our RTO meeting, some dimwit posted in the WebEx chat "why are we being punished for being vaccinated?"

I just had to chuckle at someone putting a target on themselves.

We just had a meeting with our group in Charlotte. A couple of the Senior Managers and a few of the secretaries got on the video call talking about how great it was and all this other BS. How they thought it was a complete success lol...

Most people on the floor I saw taking off at 4 PM. It was a more meh attitude.

I second 10-15%. The trading floor in NYC was a bit busier than usual, but still many empty desks and some folks just left early. The flagescape article says THOUSANDS. It's hysterical. There is ZERO apatite to return full time even by senior leadership (MDs) but the message is coming down from BM and his directs. Their hands are tied as they continue to loose people.

If you noticed the last sentence in the article says over the next coming months they will continue to invite "those who have not shared their vaccination status".

The leadership is tone deaf. I am currently exploring my options with other shops who offer flexibility.

I'm in Charlotte. I didn't go in but talked with a few who did and they said the floor was 10-15% full. There was little to no socialization, and the few that were there looked miserable and many went home early after the provided lunch.

The Flagscape articles on RTO are so out of touch and unrealistic that they appear as satire articles in The Onion. Most people see through the propaganda.

We need to seek leverage over leaders through the power in the numbers who don't return and hope that it forces their hand to provide a hybrid work arrangement. It's just not realistic to ask people to go from fully remote to fully in office after all this time with the pandemic still raging and the changes we have all made to make WFH functional.
