Dear Exxonmobil….

What are your thoughts about the email that was sent to the EMIT LT last week?

Emit sucks. I have never dealt with so many incompetent IT people in my life.

Is there a problem with them being mostly white? Would you be complaining as well if they were mostly purple? How about black?

I read that email. He knew the game, played it and got left behind. Also I know a lot of people the same thing happened. Individual achievement like early posters said and what politics you have on your side. Unfortunately what he tried to say will get lost cause of the environment we are in.

EMIT Canada is more diverse than the rest of IOL. Look at the IOL Finance or HR functions, particularly ones that have 10+ experience, mostly whites.

That said, the ones that remained on expat assignments that originated from EMIT Canada, are also mostly white.

OP here. There’s no way to sow division due an email that clearly shows that EM treatment is divided.

@1ggg+1cOfatf1 sow division? I haven’t seen any “team spirit” at this company, it’s all individual achievement here

EMIT still exists? Some transitional period?

EMIT Canada does not suffer from a lack of diversity in my view, Caucasian native born Canadians are few and far between, though they are better represented in the cohort that are retirement eligible, given hiring practices 30 years ago. The one's left in global roles are from this cohort, they will all retire shortly. And the people that were laid off were from all backgrounds as well.

I think OP is just trying to stir up something. Nope, I am not management. Lots of things I don't like about this place but I am not going to be silent when someone plays this card to sow division.

A perfect example of EMIT’s culture is EMIT Canada laying off multiple Asian-Canadians, including at least one high executive potential (36+) individual because “they are in global roles” and keeping most anglo-Canadians in “global roles” to this day.

Us pawns are not privileged enough to view the contents of the email. The best we'll get is allusions and subtle hints, which serve as a reminder of how pitiful and unimportant we truly are.

Can someone give a summary of the email? I know the person but I guess not enough to be copied…(unless it was only to LT)

If this was the person that went to big tech in an I&D role, he’s certainly correct, but the reality that is the culture of EM, and especially EMIT is too far away from where he’s trying to make it.

It was too kind and balanced. He should have flamed the EMIT leaders on his way out
