Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The big companies are loving this

Those who think they're 'owning' the company by quitting over vaccines are deluded. Every major company that's been paying millions in severance and unemployment in the last decade or so is jumping for joy whenever another person turns in their walking papers. You are saving them millions! This works perfectly for them. For the majority of people, they seem to be on the right side of the issue while shedding costs left and right. If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

Why would anyone leave? I am not aware of anyone whose medical or religious exception was not approved...

Big companies paying severance? The last time I got laid off from a big company, I got nothing but accrued vacation. Been nice if I would have gotten a severance to pay off my small mortgage.

We have this nut in our org who's been around for years - nobody knows how he's kept his job or what he even does. The vaccine requirement finally pushed him into retirement. Everybody wants to have a "Gone Away" party the day after he's out.

I imagine there's plenty of people just like him the company would gladly see go.

this is bigger than just a vaccination. they are setting a precedence for a whole lot of other things. this cannot stand along with anything else like testing and masks mandates. this has to stop.

i seriously doubt anyone quit over this mandate. If some folks have left or retired, they were likely planning to do that anyway. Anyone that quits and didn't want to leave is a silly fool.

No one will get fired over this. In no company communication have they said directly that you will be fired if you're not vaccinated. Implications maybe, but nothing even close to a direct threat of termination.

Lots of things that will play out over the next month or so. Likely some kind of delayed return to office along with quite a few states passing laws or executive orders prohibiting employer mandates. Your backstop is an exemption request.

Don't let the nonsense on this board get you to quit. It would be very foolish.

Agreed with OP, for those who scramming to quit out of principle, the company is just show you the door.

If you been here for a while, you had gotten accustomed to the level of insanity and bureaucracy. If you don't want the vaccine, file the exception. If the game is paperwork, so be it, make sure you do it during business hours and don't hesitate to tell your manager.
