Another multi million $ outside hire

We have a new chief digital and information officer, Mike Amend, who will help focus the company use of data, software and technology to drive growth and create value for customers and other stakeholders. More proof that our existing bench of management is incapable of leading Ford out of these abysmal times.

I’m laughing because all the IT LLs who thought they were getting a promotion just got a new layer of management above them.

I'd be surprised if any of the IT directors thought they would get the job. Farley 'retired' the last CEO almost instantly and was looking for someone on the outside. He almost got a 'split' candidate with Vijay until he backed out.

they definitely need some new ideas at the top. i think it will take a critical mass of outsiders to influence overall result though. the FoMoCo LL immune system will begin working on stealthily removing the invader soon enough. "i dont know why he left, i guess he just didnt like the weather."

@1mey I want to add your post. We also want to have pride in our employer, no matter where we work. We want to brag to our friends and family how great Ford/employer is. We want to support our employer by buying their products.

Ford does nothing in those regards. They have no loyalty to their employees, especially the tenured ones with constant layoffs or fear of them They build shoddy vehicles with constant recalls.

Ford is a dumpster fire right now. Until the management starts to care about the company image, quality and employees, nothing will change.

To great extend, this is a group of people who are very disappointed about what had happened in the past many years, not haters.

The most effective cost save idea is not to build up cost to begin with. After hundreds and thousands dollars worth cost got built into the products, you now are asked to come up with ideas to save pennies. This is a classic, a re-run.

I think in the past two weeks the message is very clear! These new organizations will be run by outsiders and key positions will also be from the outside. These new guys will want to build up there new kingdoms for the so called new organizations with their people. But I hope this company is making the right decisions? Previous poster is correct. Do I want my information to be sold? Regular online I decline any type of "COOKIE" tired of the garbage emails. Second the NAV units on a phone are free vs. having to pay a premium to update and subscribe with "SYNC". I feel this new org. is a big stretch.

LOL. Seriously who wants ads on their Nav screen? Who wants Ford collecting and selling their data? Who trusts Ford to properly handle their data? (keep in mind we are talking Ford of India). The answer to all these questions, pretty much NOBODY.

We don’t even use the Ford Nav screen it is so bad. We mount an iPad/iPhone and use a reliable app on a reliable OS. Just about everyone I know does the same.

The only app we used briefly was the app to unlock car. Then Ford left us locked out of our car after a Sunday run because they had a six hour outage. So that app went in the garbage bit bin.

It's about time this company get some fresh perspective at the top levels of management and hire from the outside. Will definitely help quality and lower warranty costs.
