I can guess the reasons why they want to gather the age group data, but I think they should gather number of years of exp. in the industry instead. I’m curious about your take on this data gathering.

Hire 20 somethings while they know everything.
The presenters want to know how much they can stretch the truth. Older, senior people will call them on BS. Younger, junior people will sit in awe.
Age often equates to salary bands based on years of salary raises. Why do you think the layoffs are predominantly 50+'s?
Neither one matters. Years of experience is quite subjective: I know someone who was recently laid off from Cisco with 20 years of experience on proprietary long obsolete tech. Whatever she accumulated over 20 years can probably be transfered to a new hire in a 3-day class. So much for those years of experience. And age doesn't really matter either. Not sure why Devnet wants to know. What matters is your actual skills, nothing else.
