Supporting UCS or any server for that matter is geeksquad level work. Knowing the apps that ride on it is a little different. I say spin it and the mds off as a package deal.

the UCS lives as long as CMS lives( Cisco managed service), it still send out UCSservers to the client and a massive load of UCS servers (heavy hardware) at customer sites, running a third party software from Virginia called sicencelogic.. and doing site to site vpn.. complex internal mpls BGP so no one can understand , as outdated as it is ,

Quite buggy the whole UCS interim upgrade procedure . I don’t think too much engineering excellence assigned to this product line (from the outside looking in) lately

I'm surprised it has run as long as it has. The margins are terrible. If UCS goes, what happens to Intersight - the tool the will cure cancer?
