Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Yep, life is better outside Garrett/AlliedSignal/Honeywell

You've heard this many times, "life outside Honeywell is much better." It's true and you have the ability to depart anytime. Fortunately, I acquired many different skills over 35 years when I was included in a punitive layoff. I didn't look at Aerospace opportunities. I looked at growth companies where my skills matched. I ended up within the Data Center market place. These data centers are growing exponentially and are now in need of qualified personnel; technicians, engineers, etc.. Some data centers are managed internally and other through contracted services, such as JLL. The AZ West Valley will grow for the next five years. Places to look, JLL, Microsoft and Amazon. I'm not an HR representative, just an extremely satisfied person who left a poorly managed aerospace company with the horribly mandated 9-Block system.

Filing a law suit against an employer eventually gets you blacklisted.
There are no protections from this. You rehired quick enough to avoid. Next job search expect to be shunned.

There is one big issue with data centers. They need a cubic butload of water. With the current drought conditions expected to last for the forseeable future and water restrictions, there may be a lot less growth of data centers in the Phoenix area.

I left HON this year after my manager did everything in her/his power to ruin my career including fabricating lies. Yes, racism is still a problem and acceptable at the higher levels. HR protects the powerful, and sacrifices the pawns. Luckily, I had hard evidence of his/her repeated behaviors which were in direct violation of HON Code of Conduct, but that didn't matter to HR.. only to my lawyers. My legal case was strong and they decided to settle with a large payout rather than go to court. I was unemployed for only 2 days. Much happier now, enjoying my work and earning more. Glad I am out.

I moved from Phoenix to Tucson for another major aerospace company. I wanted HON to work as a career for the pension. Turns out I spend way to many years struggling to keep an OK salary. Don’t be like me, move on when your no longer valued or happy. Most company’s of Honeywell’s size are a better environment.

Excellent post. Thanks for that info. I'm glad that you made a successful transition from this very dysfunctional company. Any real company wouldn't think to abuse their employees using a nine block / decimation system or anything close to it. Some have in the past and then saw the light and changed their ways. Too bad Honeywell never will.

I also moved to an emerging field of biopharma and am satisfied with my situation and the industry’s growth trajectory. Honeywell is trying to get into the space but neither they have knowledge nor empathy (to admit that they don’t know what they don’t know) to be successful. I don’t go to work thinking that I am going to war anymore!
