Breakthrough Covid - Firsthand

I’m recovering from a “mild” breakthrough case of Covid. I’m healthy and have no pre-existing conditions. I see comments on this site minimizing breakthrough cases, and it’s obvious y’all don’t know what you’re talking about. Even though I was not hospitalized, I was unable to work or do anything productive for almost 2 weeks. It was awful and I still haven’t fully gotten my stamina back. If you have young kids in school, especially in Texas, you will be exposed and expose others without knowing. Covid will spread in these offices and teams will suffer from folks being out sick.

People wanna try to simplify this and say mild breakthrough cases are like the flu. Please trust me, it’s not the flu. The fears others are expressing on this site are valid.

OP here…my interpretation of “cool down” was delaying RTO for 2 weeks. I guess I need to ask them how to record my time. Thanks for the info!

No you are entitled up to 14 days once you get covid. It's called "cooling period" once you let hr know u got covid they will advise you what to put on your time sheet

i wonder how the bank is letting people know when someone gets a breakthrough? did HR ask you guys who you were in contact so other people could be alerted if they start feeling sick?

Thank you for the post...while I have not personally experienced this, I have several relatives (vaccinated) with break through cases. 1 was hospitalized for a couple of days and is now home on oxygen. All say this felt like the flu to start with, but the similarity ended there. This is still no joke at all. It is reckless of the company to continue this path. I also agree with the responder who said most managers are WFH friendly. I have had many managers during my time with the bank (25+ years) that have told me they don't care where I work from as long as the job gets done and they can reach me when they need me. This is all being driven by the talking heads in suites, not by anyone who does the work or is responsible for the work getting done.

by and large i think most managers are WFH friendly. It's just the overarching stupid policy with RTO that ties their hands as they continue to lose staff.

I myself exp the same on the first week of being back. I didnt die, but i was very ill for almost 2 weeks. There was nothing mild about it.

I had plenty of sick time so I used that. My manager was/is really amazing and they’ve allowed me to step away as needed since. I was supposed to RTO this week, but that was pushed back. I’m happy with the support that’s been provided so far. I just really don’t think RTO is a great idea right now.
