Ascension Technologies to lay off another 330

Ascension Technologies, an IT subsidiary of local health care system Ascension, plans to lay off an estimated 330 workers on or around Nov. 19, according to a regulatory filing.

@mxat+1cWdMycU - It's been my understanding that the decision to offshore Ascension IT was made several years ago. The COVID PPP gubermint loan requirements pushed it back from starting in Spring 2020 to October 2020. In order to have the loans forgiven, a company or organization had to have all their employees on payroll on Oct. 1st, 2020.

Absolutely! This "only remote workers" nonsense is misleading at best. I worked at a dedicated IT building at an Ascension ministry until COVID sent us home. Only in the last 6 months was my position officially changed to "remote", which would be about the time they would've been making the decisions to get rid of us.

I don’t think so. 651 is for the EHR systems move.

The 330 is for the other products application support.

One item that bothers me is the statement that these are all remote workers. In the not too distant past, these people served their local ministries. It wasn’t until St. Louis decided to group ministry teams into national teams.
