Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Arity screwed up

Much like allstate, Arity laid a large swathe of it's staff off last year, and funny thing is, with how quickly people have been jumping ship the last 18 months, they are now severely understaffed and don't know the first thing about hiring tech/data science talent, especially with the insultingly low salaries offered, leading to more departures and teams being stretched further and so the cycle goes.

All that is to say, all that allstate touches turns to a streaming pile of ex------t, and Arity is just one of many examples

With Emad transitioning to Allstate, the Arity engineering team has been a sh-t show, not that it wasn't before, but the finger pointing has only increased and there is no accountability by engineering leadership for poor decisions made by engineering leadership.

Get out before it gets worse.

@1qxc+1cX732c2 what was wrong with him being an SVP? Also, quite curious how he was canned, wonder what more there was to that story.

Arity was in trouble when Grady became an SVP. Someone really thought that was a good idea? Was never fooled by the beard and hoodie, and I assume others caught onto the fraud.

@ujj+1cX732c2 in defense of Gary, his hands are tied in many situations because of Allstate and it's a-s backwards approach to tech

Arity has always been a dumpster fire. Horrible leadership, ridiculous business plan, vaporware, lack of focus (if you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there).

Every word out of Gary's mouth is Silicon Valley gibberish. Allstate's provincial Midwestern leadership couldn't recognize it as such.

So I guess we can expect nothing is going to be done too fix the retention/turnover problem based on the non-answers to three questions on this subject during the town hall today. Get them resumes ready, this is officially a sinking ship

@ibu+1cX732c2 that's because they can't attract outside leadership or staff... They'll have no choice... The only people still at Arity are people who came from allstate originally

@cec+1cX732c2 surprisingly, most of the Indian teams we had were eliminated during last year's reorg. Ireland is where a lot of the work is going currently

Are some of the Arity positions being moved to Pune?

So many teams at Arity have lost a significant amount of staff. Many teams are missing fundamental components required to do their task. The current job market isn't going to make it any easier to fix.
