Pegged as high potential?

I’ve heard in order to make it far in this company (CL 34+) you have to be pegged. Typically this only happens when another high potential leader pegs you. My question is how do I get pegged and does it hurt?

I had been pegged very early in my career, but later found out that it is a bunch of BS, they use that to keep driving every single ounce from you like a nut daggling inside a hammer wheel. Not my problem any more before I left and never looked back.

Hypo=promotion every 2 years; new development assignment every 2 years; ranking in 10% every year. Do that for 30 years and you make it to the top. Multiple transfers, relocations and international assignments. Many 60 hour weeks and weekends

Technically potential of CL34 is going Executive Potential but not higher potential… that is CL36+

Yes, being identified as Hipo is done by people, theoretically one manager could champion you but more likely you will have caught the attention of several supervisors and managers by your communication skills, initiative, etc. If your goal is to be CL34+ you will need to be a rock star, exceptional in everything you do.

Not too bad with lube. Very painful without. I prefer Mobil 1. Also helps not to have a gag reflex when downing management clocks. It worked for me, but underpaid versus my peers.
