Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR PDC disaster

Get ready, a lot of disappointment in the HR PDC. They are trying to shuffle as many jobs as possible to create movement, but the managers and PDRs do not know the capabilities of the employees. Far fewer promotions are being approved and the "lets see how they perform" birds are out. They expect many people to leave voluntary over the next 6 months.

No one cares about HR.

HR has done nothing for the rest of the company why would we care about you??????

Meanwhile we make you money in operations but your concerned about being woke and rolling out a new digital tool that doesn’t interface with the old digital tool. It’s cool we know it agile which means it’s garbage but let’s call it like it is garbage

HR PDC is such a farce. PDRs are catty and incompetent and lack basic HR skills. They have gotten to where they are by surrounding themselves with work horses. To keep themselves looking good, these managers hold their employees back because without them, who would do the work? They make promises and dole out recognition awards but they never do anything to advance them. Then the mediocre performers and favorites get advanced and then they become that same type of manager. It’s a vicious cycle. No need to name names because everyone in HR knows who these managers and PDRs are.

Yes. The Chevron HR Mafia is alive and well. And the rest of the function is hugely bloated. Have you ever looked at the infinitely nuanced titles of the EEs and how many are there now...even after transformation?

Results are being rolled out already, which is really fast. The news - as others implied or expected - is not good overall. I’m sure the DP’ers and other faves will still be happy and taken care of though.

Every career ladder promo I have had is when I moved to a new job. My managers have always been too weak to promote me in role.

It’s pretty rare for a PDC move to result in a promotion, in any function. A promotion typically only follows a PDC placement if it’s a placed job. Career ladder jobs don’t offer promos when you accept the job, and non-placed jobs also don’t offer a promo. Anybody hoping to get a promo from a PDC move is likely to be disappointed.

The HR PDC is a complete waste of what little time anyone in the function actually has at this point. PDRs already know who will be selected before the meeting actually starts. Facts. And shocker, it’ll be all the usual favorites. Hopefully no one got their hopes up….

There are new HR PDRs resulting from Transformation. They aren’t any better than the existing ones. Most of them are buddies with each other.

Why the HR threads? because a bunch of hr people read this site its our only place to vent and share information without fear of retaliation. Going through hotline Eap and ombuds does no good. Ask anyone in hr and they will tell you that.

We need to see results before we discuss next steps. I have a feeling that we will start naming names if we are disappointed.
