Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Be honest

Would you really be willing to quit if you have to return to the office? I know many are currently talking a big game, but when push comes to shove, I think the majority if not all will follow the rules and start coming in without too much fuss. If you were so adamant about leaving on account of this, you'd already be gone. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, if push comes to shove.

You are aware that not everyone employed at ATT touches ‘facilities’, right? And guess what, some positions have always worked from home. And you might not know that many thousands of employees are non-bargained for titles with jobs in offices who easily wfh.
What makes these techs think their jobs are the only ones at ATT?!
When you jump on this site and complain; you’re complaining to a small segment of the company’s personnel.

The thread says be honest, so, here's honest:

If, after working over a year just as diligently from home as from the office and getting maybe even more work done, they force us back into the office for NO other reason than to make us lose hours of our day to unpaid commuting then I will gladly:

Take my 10 paid FMLA days each year...

Take my 5 paid work days of illness before going on dis-ability..

Take my 6 months paid dis-ability each year...

on top of all my excused days and vacation days and holidays...

For the same pay that I receive for working every day I will receive an additional 6 months and 15 days off, their choice.

I'll do almost 7 months less work for the same pay.......

WOuld I return? After a decade - plus of working from home, no. Years ago we had a VP who liked heads in cubes. He came from the truck fleet or some such, told everyone to come into an assigned office, and six weeks later he was back on physical plant work. A large contingent apparently refused to go along.

If your work is all on the computer screen and the phone, you can do it from home. Period. COVID proved that.

As for watching TV all day, I'm still working right now (well, will be as soon as I post this.) I'm not wasting time commuting, not incurring any real estate costs (because I cover those personally), and I'm not in my pajamas. And so what if I was? I'm still getting the work done.

I’m designated virtual but if told to come into the office I would. WFH is a perk in my eyes. I think some forget that.

""You office people are weak sauce.
If you can work from home, your job can be done in India. ""

Your beliefs are comical and very shortsighted. If your job does not require you to be at a location to put your hands physically on facilities or equipment it can be done from india, or anywhere..... AND, if your job does require putting hands on equipment or facilities it can be done by vendors and contractors......

Get a true clue.......

Techs had to go in every day.
Visit numerous dwellings and businesses.
It would be horrible if you actually had to get out of your pajamas, not watch TV all day, and actually go to your work location.
You office people are weak sauce.
If you can work from home, your job can be done in India.
No wonder they outsource you.
You folks are a laughing stock.

Retiring December this year! Bad management has become intolerable, lost my passion for the job and now realize life is too short and this company is no longer a priority to me! Time to let someone else deal with it!

The problem is that no uniform policy exists for WFH. If your boss gives approval that is all it takes. Some Managers are anti-WFH and will never approve anyone to WFH.

The job market is hot. It’s not just coming into the office. Pile that on leadership saying we are overpaid, constant cuts, and terrible management everyone should be looking.
