Is it possible to be promoted at Sam's if I'm not friends with anybody from the management? I haven't been here that long, but what I've seen so far is that the only criteria to make any upward progress is to know the right people. If that's true, I don't envision myself staying here much longer.

I was offered a "promotion" twice in the almost 2 years I worked there. Both times I turned it down. A promotion at sams club is nothing more than failing upwards. The pitiful little increase in pay you'll receive is not worth the stress and inevitable mental breakdown you'll go through. It was everything I could do as a merchandiser just to keep from eating a bullet in the parking lot on my lunch break.

That's some truthfully funny stuff.
Favoritism runs rampant in our club. Unethical managers giving promotions to people with coaching. If you don't kiss bu-t, then you don't have a chance. Very unfair.
Absolutely not they're all snakes and would throw you under the bus just like that.
Yes, you have to fit in with their clan. They will use you to get rid of associates with whatever means necessary and that should answer your question. There are farrrrrrr better companies to work for.
