Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Vaccinated but live with immune compromised

I submitted my vaccine status in good faith, now I'm called to the office in the middle of this pandemic. I'm taking care of my sick grandma who is recovering from cancer.
I use this job to support her. I can't afford to quit or be fired/laid off.

This return to office call is unjustified as the bank says they put their employees safety first. I started applying for remote roles. It's unlikely I will land a job before labor day.

What do I do here? I don't think I can claim medical accomodations. It's saddens me that after giving 12 years to think bank that they do not give a damn. They will have blood on their hands if something happens to my grandma. She's all I have.

To the OP, I am sorry this company is forcing you to make the difficult decision between upholding your job and taking care of your family.
None of us who are fully enabled to work remotely should have to make this decision. If I were you, I would look into FMLA.

Why did you fill out the form when everyone that does is being called back in? Even the CEO said the vaccinated that fill out the form would be going back first. I hope they do the right thing and push back the return to office dates since the numbers are so high right now. The hard thing is HR will be dealing with the fact that all parents with children under the age to be vaccinated don't want to go back into the office either. Well no one does. So as of now I wish I had advice but I would have said not to fill it out. I do think since they live with you it would be worth your time to call HR and give them the chance to do the right thing. Let us know how it goes. Prayers for you and everyone else. No one wants to go back to the office and get something that can ki-l us and our family members and strangers.

My heart goes out to you OP. There really is no reason for you or anyone to get back to the office.

I feel the same way. I'm not vaccinated but I feel I will have to take the jab because right now I can't afford to quit my job. I do not want to go through that two days a week up your nose testing. BOA knows they are putting employees in a difficult situation and they don't care. WFH was doing fine for me, I'm able to save on gas and wear and tear of my vehicle.
