I've worked at several F500 companies, and IBM has been the worst BY FAR. I was lured here by an executive who offered me a generous salary, but I'm already ready to check out within a year. I knew my first week here I made a mistake. Some things I've noticed:
- The constant changing of leadership and direction of the teams. My manager has changed twice within a year! And our leadership's priorities have already shifted. Jesus Christ! You don't achieve significant gains by constantly changing your people and direction. This really isn't normal guys.
- Our products really suck. I mean, jeez our clients only use it because it's legacy and too painful to migrate off of. No one sees us as a real partner. IBM Cloud is a joke and everyone knows it. I've never worked at a company that has such awful products and refuses to listen to their customers. IBM Cloud is not something our clients asked for! They want our software to be SaaS (not on prem), no more audits, and better customer service.
- Just a really toxic environment where everyone is so afraid of losing their jobs. This is my first time experiencing anything like this. I've worked mostly at tech companies that are growing and layoffs never happened (only fired for poor performance).
I'm already applying to leave. For those who've been here for a long time, just know that your misery is not just you. This whole company is messed up and if you worked at a real tech company, you'd know that we're going downhill real fast.
