Cisco management will be in for a rude awakening in a few years when they need to replace all the talent they deemed too expensive and nobody wants to even give them the time of day. Available tech jobs are expected to double throughout this decade. Smart companies are already working on making sure they keep their talent and become attractive to new employees. Cisco, however, is burning its bridges with old employees and only making sure that it's attractive to fresh college grads who nowadays end up using this as a stepping stone for something better. This will come back to bite them in the a-s sooner than they think.

@3ojp, so true. Not all H1B’s are talented and the talented ones are exploited by assigning them to mundane work if you are not from managers CASTE.
I know some great talents FTE/C thrown out of company by incompetent managers but good for them they still manage to thrive at new work place.
@3ojp, kudos to you.
Without H1B, there would be no Cisco. H1B are the lifeline of Cisco. CEO needs to be one of us and you will see how far Cisco will shine. Just look at what happened at MSFT after Nadella took over. Yeah, baby, we the rocket fuel of tech. TADA!!!
While Nadella is Indian, he is not an H1B hire. He got his US citizenship long before he became the CEO of MSFT,
And for all the talented Indians like Nadella, there are hundreds or thousands of barely educated Indians working in first tier technical support or doing basic technology work. Not saying anything negative against Indians. I've worked with some talented ones and some stupid ones. Just like I've worked with talented white guys and stupid white guys. But they are NOT the solution to any tech company. Talented workers are the solution and not the management that Cisco has currently. Talent has left Cisco.

So true but you get two for the price of one. The managers look intelligent infront of these young g-ns so they like this. Cisco suffers because the talent they layoff end up going to companies like IBM, Microsoft, Google, Zoom.
Constructive dissmisals on the rise.
"In fact without H1B cisco will collapse if not whole silicon valley"
We put a man on the moon without an H1B visa system. The H1B system is just a clever method to make the 1% even wealthier. It also brings third-world labor culture into corporate america... look at Amazon
"cheaper vendor resources and/or H1B visa holders." - not sure if you are aware most H1B visa holders are very bright and hardworking people with masters degrees from good school and some with PhD. And some are very expensive too. I know few at Google. You may know more if you look around. In fact without H1B cisco will collapse if not whole silicon valley. Also contractors are many times bright and expensive plus provide flexibility. I do not think they are 'indentured servants'. This is very biased post
Hiring vendor resources just to cutdown budget is also in trend now a days specially the H1B’s …. Not sure what kind of MSA they have with the vendors…
It is self destructive for the vendors to work with such a company. They are loosing business as well as resources.
Its all part of the plan. LR experienced employees and fill the tech vacancies with cheaper vendor resources and/or H1B visa holders. It has the benefit of creating an insulating layer to keep college hires from having career advancement opportunities, forcing them out after a few years. Directors and managers love it, they can pound on the vendors and H1B all day long to meet unreasonable expectations. Like indentured servants, they can't do anything about it.
