Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Overworked doesn't even begin to cover it

The amount of work they expect us to do is unrealistic. Every time somebody leaves we end up picking up their work. These days when I get home, all I can do is hit the bed right away. All my energy is spent at work, there's nothing left in me for anything else but sleep. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do this. I need my life back.

You guys are obviously going about it the wrong way. The worker bees are rarely the ones getting the credit. You have to be a mover and shaker with the ideas that get noticed. This is not unique to Verizon.

One the saddest things is a VP who ran a channel so poorly they are now in recovery mode (SMB/R2B program). What happens to this id--t? He gets promoted to VP in the B2B channel. Promoted after failing miserably? What the heck? God help the channel with this oaf in charge.

I’m a Client Executive for wireline and I have never in my 18 year career worked this hard. My counterparts at Cisco make more than I do at plan and don’t work as hard. After over 3 years of working at VZ. I’m looking to get out ASAP. This is a sinking ship and I don’t understand how VZ is claiming their revenue numbers considering clients are disconnecting end moving away from VZ

to be fair, b2b is ran by the most unqualified people who sit on their roles their entire career then one day retire and another person takes that spot for the next 20 years.

My last day with VZ was 6/30 after 11 years. The once incredible network is a shadow of its former self. Yet prices keep going up. Three businesses left for Tmo in one week. When talking to them they told me service was better, customer support (call center) was much better and they are paying 1/3 of what they used to. What the old regime didn’t run into the ground the new regime is finishing off. The people running the B2B channel now are a joke. All we heard was how “fired up” they are, how EVERY business is waiting for us to come talk to them about 5G and that we have the best network that ever was or ever will be. Such a sad sad place run by pompous, arrogant id--ts.

Just do what you can and tell your union if they refuse to slow down on the workload.
But first, go to your boss and tell the boss "Cut it on the workload". If that doesn't work, file a union grievance and go out on FMLA for stress for as long as possible, at least 12 weeks. That'll teach all those on the right and the capitalists to slow their roll a bit.

Same. Good retention strategy - leave you so drained you don’t have enough energy to look for another job.

I feel for you. That’s exactly why I left that forsaken place of Verizon. It is, has been and will always be the Verizon way: work you to death. I was in IT at Verizon wireless and moved to Verizon, all the same BS.

No one works that hard outside of construction.
You’re doing it wrong
