Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell FMT

I just got an offer from FMT. I don't know much about the company. Comments in this forum have not been the greatest about honeywell. How is the management at FMT and are there opportunities for career growth? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. How long do i have to stay at my position before i can move internally?

It’s better than regular AERO. Good luck.

Good luck finding positive comments about any company on thelayoff.com. It is literally made for hurt, jaded, and cynical people to vent anonymously about their grievances. It is not what I would call a balanced cross section of how everyone feels.

Management is decent, there can be bad apples, but most are good high caliber individuals (Engineering management). FMT has lots of growth opportunities for your career. Many different things to do in the business and lots of capability under one roof. Flexible work schedules and has a great mission to support. Time in position before you can move internally is generally 18 months, but can be shortened with the right approvals. There is also a rotation program you could ask about where you rotate through 3 depts every 6-9 months and than decide which dept you want to work in (for engineers). No layoffs in over 20+ years and company is growing exponentially.

Run! Do not walk away from Honeywell... unless you want to be treated like nothing more than a cash cow for the execs. The only thing Honeywell makes produces anymore is endless meetings to discuss why things aren't getting done. You might also use Honeywell as a springboard into a better career in a few years and don't mind the fear and intimidation techniques, low wages, crypt-like facilities, and constant expectation of working 50+ hours every week.

The leader of FMT is a great guy, but even he can't protect people from Corporate policies and company culture, and no site is immune from job losses and site closings. Read the boards.

Recommend you read this Board very carefully before making a decision. Honeywell is Honeywell and you are not insulated from Corporate decisions, PIP, layoffs, mandates, benefit cuts, insurance policies, etc. etc.

A friend of mine transferred there and beyond the security inconveniences really likes it. Much better job security too!

FMT is a great place to work. Insulated from the rest of honeywell by unions and the nature of the work. Enjoy. We are jealous.
