XTO relocation payment

I am planning on leaving the company before my relocation bonus’s vest. Already got new role to cover them, but I am curious if anyone has had XOM asking them to repay and if they do ask how aggressively will they pursue?

After turning the case over to a collection agency (or selling the case to a third party), EM spends no further effort collecting a repayment. Others do the work for EM and get paid a cut only if recovery is successful.

The collections probably don't cost anything, they are most likely contingent fee.

The Corporation will waste billions on Kearl, Permian, stock buybacks, new jets, and on and on and on. And then they will chase your Happy A-s down for $100 in relocation pay even if it costs them more to collect than they will receive. They are sl--e ba--s to the very end.

The Harris County District Clerk site shows a dozen or so lawsuits filed by XOM against former employees who failed to repay tax equalization or education amounts to the company. Always get a letter in writing that no amounts are due.

I'm surprised EM would waste resources on chasing these payments. I had a buddy who on short notice decided not to start working for the company, they never called to collect his (already paid) signing bonus.

I know someone who quit XOM before his relocation benefits vested and they turned it over to a debt collector within a few months of him quitting.

I knew a guy that quit EM from a rotator position which EM had been administering a “hypothetical tax” payment. He started getting the automated emails about tax refund amount due company. He ignored them for months then finally responded that he no longer worked for EM and was not going to send any of his tax refund to EM. The automatic emails ended and nobody from EM ever contacted Ed him about that refund. I think it was $25,000.

I do not have much data but I do personally know of an instance where the return of the relocation payment to the employee was requested by the company

Actually I'd draw up a request for EM to go the bucks to Re-relocate you. Say - $40K.
Back to civilization.
Otherwise, declare a kidnap or at least involuntary servitude with false pretenses.
