Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

“game changing” announcement tomorrow

I was told that an announcement will be sent tomorrow related to vaccination, face masks, etc. and the insinuation was that it may be employees being required to vaccinate. That this was going to be a significant policy chance, not just another off hand announcement. Anyone heard this

So employees are mandated to get an experimental shot that has less efficacy than naturally fighting off the virus if one is healthy? And for those that already had the virus - the clinical trials (Cleveland Clinic of 55k participants) showing proof of the unlikeliness of getting the virus a second time - those people should also have untested ingredients injected into their bodies too? Let us not forget the tests themselves are not foolproof and they have counted colds & common flu as positives. If one is afraid & got the shot - why push it to those that can’t or don’t want to be injected? It’s not like the shots prevents getting or spreading the virus. This is just fear mongering and lawsuits will be certain for both the company and personnel that push the shots if there are any side effects. Do some research & look what Pfizer inc posted on Twitter - recommending anti-virals in some instances with shots. Anti-virals work to save lives and that is not opinion - that is proof coming from my doctor who has had great success as therapeutic treatment.

This is the only country not recognizing natural immunities. Follow the science? Please.

What about the millions that already suffered through the illness. They earned those antibodies, why no exception/consideration for that group.

You have two choices: a) get vaccinated or b) don’t get the vaccination and don’t come into the office. Seems straightforward to me. Never let it be said that you weren’t informed; and I’m sure HR will send out multiple reminders to you.

Within the next month I would expect the FDA to give full approval on the current vaccines, giving companies more leverage.

Another option going forward that may also come to fruition is a surcharge on your medical premiums for those NOT vaccinated (like those still Smoking, etc).
Hospitalizations can add an increased burden on medical coverage expense to the companies subsidized health coverage for employees. Open Enrollment is just around the corner. May or may not happen.

Vaccination is about the health of our general community , and unlike the Annual Flu vaccination choice, COVID-19 can be deadly.

Union negotiations may not even be an issue.

" What I'm curious about is how that happens mid-contract and / or what the Unions can / will require in return for their blessings on the matter."

It always boggles my mind, the power that some of you think the Unions hold. It is ridiculous. The corporation will simply inform the Union leaders what they are going to require from their members. That's the extent of it.

If you don't want to get vaccinated by 10/11 and don't get a waiver you'll be fired and the courts stand behind these mandates. . . . sad but true!

I don't know why @mrc+1civIQvK was downvoted because they're right.

The company will have to engage in contract negotiations with the various Unions before it can be mandated to the unionized workforce. ( This is per the NLRB )

What I'm curious about is how that happens mid-contract and / or what the Unions can / will require in return for their blessings on the matter.

So disappointed again in the company. This is complete overreach! Another way to discriminate against employees. How can this be legal?

You were right. Announcement just came out. Stank says employees must be vaccinated and he will be working with the unions to implement. Must have mask in office for all.

I’m sorry but I don’t feel comfortable sharing my medical information with my employer. Vaccinated or not. I can’t believe this is really happening.

Yes, I would report it because they defiantly will target those not vaccinated. If you are to report to an office, and you are not vaccinated. I am sure you will get fired. Not many folks have been approved to wfh full time.

Stankey just sent email that many employees will require vaccine to enter the office. I have been WFH since covid. I did get the vaccine but I did NOT tell anyone at work or report it on HR website. Do you think the next round of layoffs will target people that show in the system as unvaccinated?

It’s very simple, if you want to return to the office, you must be vaccinated. Very few employees have been approved to work from home, most cases you’re a flex worker requiring 1-3 days a week in the office. If you are not vaccinated, you can’t return to the office which is a performance issues subject to disciple up to and including dismissal. Role up your sleeves!!!

I heard this same rumor of an upcoming announcement as well. I did hear that it was going to impact both frontline and HQ employees but I have no details beyond that.

I do not see them mandating the vaccine at least not now especially since our union is so big. It will take time for them to negotiate with the union i would think
