Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I see this as a good thing

I'm hoping people are going to have the courage of their convictions and quit rather than get the vaccine they so adamantly opposed. Judging by the people posting here, there'll be a sizable group that'll walk away over this. This means T will significantly reduce costs without the need to pay severance - which means that at least for a while there'll be no need for layoffs. Always look for the positive side of things.

OSHA has ruled and was just upheld that if a company mandates the vaccine and an employee suffers injuries or worse fatality it will be a job related injury.

Doubt there'll be mass exodus, people like to talk loud but when their livelihoods are challenged, they are going to pout and get the jab.

To the OP. What a load of cr-p! If the company wants to lay people off, let the, do it. They shouldn’t hide behind a bu-----t political mandate. You’re looking forward to people quitting? I look forward to you being laid off, ya ja----s.

Seriously! I doubt you’ll even have a handful of people stupid enough to walk away over this! I was on the fence from the start and still haven’t gotten the jab, but I think I’m informed enough to know that it’s reasonably safe enough at this point. I don’t have to get the jab, I’m occupational and we’re not yet mandated to do so! At my age, I believe it’s the prudent thing to do, so I’m ready and willing! Fauci ouchie here is come!

Not sure what you mean by sizeable - when you look at the number of views these threads get and consider what percentage are pro vaccine - there really aren’t that many.

Folks come on here to stir up the opposing opinion as they sit on the couch watching television.

@cmn+1cjNsWeX - Currently this only affects management which are overpaid anchors anyway, their uselessness has become even more apparent to not just T but to many companies that have gone remote

Your response clearly shows your ignorance. Management extends well beyond the managers all of you union folks speak so badly about. FYI, generally speaking anyone in this company that is not union is considered management.

Nit sure why I just wasted my time responding…but i did

They are very crafty. They only said they are going to require most managers who come into the office to get vaccinated. They never said a penalty, or that you are forced to come into the office. If they do terminate employment it won't be revealed until after they know you didn't have an immediate reaction to it.

Forced to vaccinate, I have underlying condition, I have a reaction and die. Easy lawsuit, wife will collect millions.

Those of you stating that a verbal statement from you saying you’re vaccinated will suffice are incorrect. You need to log into the system and provide the details and upload pictures of your vax card.

Boss: Are you vaccinated?
Me: Yea.
Boss: Can you prove that?
Me: None of your phucking business.
End of story.

People will lie to say they are vaccinated. Then build herd immunity over time and no one will notice. Then this whole circus situation will go away after a few years. History books will be too embarrassed to record it.

I think just the opposite, majority will get the vaccine. I know a couple persons I used to work with who talked the big talk but now have their tail between their legs on way to Walgreens.

The vax gave me a bad case of gas which has not let up. I just go into meetings, try to sidle
up next to the boss and share. Here's to person XYZ.

I think a lot of folks will be getting fired. We had a team call today to discuss this and the overwhelming consensus I was hearing was folks are against this policy. Many of whom are retirement eligible. I have a feeling we will all know folks that get let go as a result of this. Who knows if there’s enough pushback, they may roll this back.

For me, I had my vax, so I’m not worried. However, this should be a personal medical choice. I don’t support the mandates.

People who anonymously claim lawsuits are always some guy who never files the lawsuit but just say it to make themselves feel better.

I do not understand how ‘management’ has to be vaccinated and ‘non-management’ does not.
Furthermore, ‘management’ that supervises ‘non-management’ does not have to be vaccinated.
Majority of African-Americans are against the vaccination. Is this a ‘racist’ agenda to get rid of African-Americans?

OSHA
"If you require your employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment (i.e., for work-related reasons), then any adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine is work-related. The adverse reaction is recordable if it is a new case under 29 CFR 1904.6 and meets one or more of the general recording criteria in 29 CFR 1904.7."

I see a lot of law suits in the future.

At the end of the day...very, very few will leave voluntarily or end up getting fired. They can spout nonsense here all day but when push comes to shove, these are mostly feeble minded and lazy people. They don't possess the integrity that would be required to actually stand for their convictions and lose their job. They won't even put their UID next to a comment thoughtfully expressing their opposition. That tells you all you need to know. Vax appointments are being scheduled as we speak.

Currently this only affects management which are overpaid anchors anyway, their uselessness has become even more apparent to not just T but to many companies that have gone remote. Why do you need managers that do even less now than ever before? They can whine and cry but the majority will fall in line and get the shot. Mortgages and bills are a he-l of a motivator and they know they have it good if they just shut up and keep their heads down.

"I'm not going to quit; I'll be fired. And that is fine. This is a red line for me. Everyone should think about if they should work for a company that mandates they put something into their body as a condition to work there. Everyone has decisions to make and I don't fault them one way or another. I'm only stating what I have decided."

I agree, and I also respect everyone's choice to do what they want with their body. If this is proven effective and safe in 5 years, I'm all for it. Less than 1 year's data is not enough for me.
