Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Super-star employees

Why are the super-star employees at Intel always the ones who essentially work the least and are the least talented? It is always funny to me when some of the super-stars leave the company, because then it is most clear that these opportunists never cared about the company but about their own interests. Intel still values those fake super-stars more than the people who really bring value here.

The primary skill of the so-called stars at Intel is working at Intel. Some of those skills translate to other big, failing back-stabby, political-fiefdom-type companies (think GE) but most don't.

Reminds me when Raja hired ChrisH from AMD to do marketing, and Chris laid a stinker of an "Odyssey" then left in less than two years. Probably made out like a bandit though.

I worked in a department where many had the middle name “look what I did!” It was quite tiresome. Most times individuals were recognized, never teams. It was not the Intel I started at.

Jim Keller was SVP and if he wasn't high enough to make huge changes
Then no one in the fresh water as you highlighted could survive at Intel
salty water or not, but as a leader. He has the power to change, but ...... maybe he gave up ...... maybe it is too many challenges for him ...... maybe he was discourage by someone ...... maybe he does not have the will to change anymore ...... who knows
the end is, he quit.....the story ended......super star has not make much impact

Their talent is ki$$ing A$$ and taking credit for others' accomplishments at the same time blaming their failures on others, but the general population do catch on to these no-talent b-ms in the long run.

Jim Keller was one of them
is he a over-rated Super Star?
well, those low grade perceived Super Stars that left Intel are considered talents? or the reject by Intel management cause they are not good enough to get promoted

This is just the reality of Intel :(. There is so much guided and no gold!

Managers want to look good so they tend to pick a couple of employees and promote them.

In some groups your direct manager can’t even get you promoted...Directors decide the promotions.

It definitely becomes discouraging when you are sitting next to people who are 2 grades higher than you that can’t even manage your workload.

People tend to “help there own”.

Anyway if you are below grade 8 look to jump to another company. Once you are a grade 8 IC at Intel you realize many o her places won’t come close to the salary. Below this though you can expect a raise.
