Everyones life and job has stress, I hope people have learned how or are learning how to to deal with it. You think we have stress at XOM? Sure, but nowhere near what medical people, especially doctors have to deal with right now. Teachers, room full on a daily basis including being assaulted, shootings. Cops, life/death daily. Soldiers, life or death. How about those people trying to leave Afghanistan? XOM doesn’t compare. We have to deal with people cr-p like back-stabbing talk, cat fighting, one-upping for a promo, extra work while lazy a**es sit around doing PowerPoint, worrying about a layoff. There are jobs out there with a lot less people stress and are more employee oriented if you need a change because of a stress issue and you need to mental health leave of absence.

Good for them. Make sure there's a paper trail. I struggled with depression for about a year and a half, and when I finally emerged and was successful again, I got PIP/PIL. It was 100% illegal, but what are you going to do? I chose to leave, and I'm happier now. If you're not getting promoted every 1-2 years at Exxon, you should start looking for work. Eventually you'll get PIP as you diligently work issues nobody else wants to touch.

Good luck.

Sell your value. Learn from your mistakes. Become politically connected at your new job. Be happy. This company is not worth it.

try for a second to put yourself in their situation. think about what it would feel like if it was you who needed it. if you're honest with yourself and if you truly did that, you would see it in a new way.

So it’s on them the fact the company supports this Toxxic environment? I have seen many examples of managers harassing people because of their color, s-x, gender, beliefs and the list goes on and getting promoted. They usually get away with it by enrolling to the I&D committee and pretending to support it. This company is a joke.

@OP So, what’s wrong with that? Would you rather they let the stress build up until they go off on someone (or everyone) at work?

If you need to take a head day, take a head day. There’s no shame in it.

How do we nominate someone to be put on Mental Health Leave?

I had developed depression a few years ago because I was being constantly harassed by a manager. The thing is that the harassment was so subtle that I could never tell if he was really doing it on purpose or if I was being crazy. It took its toll on me but thankfully after therapy and medication for 1 whole year I was able to get back on track. This happened a few years ago and I did not feel comfortable back then to disclose this publicly but I am very glad people are being able to do so nowadays and getting time to treat themselves. FU Op.

Part and parcel of Management's plan is to make us crazy and prey on us. They will do anything to make us leave without having to pay us to leave. They could care less if their actions create mental instability for us or our families so long as it gets rid of us. We are all different and we all process things differently. The Executives are sociopaths and only care about their egos, their salaries, their power and their RSUs and know they are safe so long as they carry out the orders of senior management, ever heard of a manager being PIPED, of course not, they are unPIPable. We are the prey, and they are the predators, and they could care less about our families and about our mental mental health. If mental health issues finally gets us off the payroll then so be it, another one gone, and maybe it will spread and take more with them. This NSI and PIP program spread out over 5 years is pure EVIL, it is unprecedented in any industry, it is pitting us all against one another just like it was designed to do, it is creating chaos, it is creating fear, it is reinforcing their control over us, our management is one big ego filled control freaks and we are their puppets. As if there wasn't enough to deal with in the world today with Covid, inflation, violence in our cities, etc. Our employer piles this on top of us. If you are having mental issues then take advantage of the programs available to you, take care of yourself first and foremost, then take care of your family, and leave this evil corporation behind. It is not your fault, it is the culture of 😈, their is plenty of good in this world and it does not reside any longer within ExxonMobil. May God Bless you All and your families.

As someone that had a child try to ki-l herself after I was laid off, I have a sensitive spot for metal health issues. Glad this is being allowed.

As the saying goes. If ya can't beat um, join um.

If their Dr drums up the paperwork, then nothing MOH can do.
