Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Will T ever regret it

because of their indifference to the departures of talented people?
T is not only indifferent, but also in every way encourages talented people to leave. I wonder if change will ever happen for this company to finally realize that in the long run it is an unsustainable business that does not and cannot attract capable, skilled and dedicated people.

In their minds, this will pay off in the end... somehow.

“ So, your point is mute at best!“

Moot. “…your point is moot…”

Sigh.

No, I don't think there will be any regrets. The company may be doing all employees a favor by encouraging them to leave. The company is $167B in debt, so corners are being cut wherever possible. That means getting long-time employees off payroll, especially those who still have a pension. It means not paying health benefits after retirement in December. It means showing the door to talented employees of any age so they can be replaced with contractors. It has nothing to do with skills or knowledge. It has to do with the dollar. This company (actually SBC, not the AT&T it once was) is in trouble.

In att’s view if you want to leave then you are not part of the group think that you are a person that never admits they were wrong and you don’t buy high and sell low. So you are not worth keeping in their eyes.

HE-L NO! T was around long before they hired those people you claim are so talented and will still be around long after they’re gone! So, your point is mute at best!

The Stink wants to pull talent from Google or Apple, so HR just had to raise the TSR to bring the pay scales up to what

Nobody, and I mean nobody, is voluntarily leaving Apple or Google to work for the stank.

They'll just contract out more of these jobs.

This is the fault of the vp's and directors, they've been giving work to contractors for so long, there's less and less T employees around who know how to do the work the contractors are doing.

All the time spent on things like nano degrees was wasted when they should have spent that time cross-training people across their org.

Talent is a threat to the MBA bozos who run this place. That's why they act to neutralize the threat.
