Really? Do some really think that there are a lot of people who will leave a well-paid job just to not get a jab which is certainly already mandatory in all companies in the industry and outside this industry? I don't think a lot of people will leave Chevron because of the vaccine.

The propaganda is off the chart against the unvaccinated. Google US vaccine deaths and look at the data from the 3rd wave (Delta variant) and compare it to the Covid infections across the same time period. It's obvious that this virus is just like the Spanish flu in the sense that while it does mutate, it does not become more deadly but rather less. Also, even if everyone in the world got a vaccine on the same date, we'll still be contending with Covid forever, again similar to the flu. As there is an animal reservoir for this virus it will never be eradicated (unlike Polio). So anyone pushing for vaccine mandates or other loss of personal freedoms has no basis. We've had ancestors fight and die for freedoms that are unheard of in human history, let's not give them away at the first bit of discomfort. *It's probably a good idea to get the vaccine if you are in a high risk category as the benefits do appear to outweigh the risks.

Better to mandate it and deal with the consequences so we can get back to work without having to shutdown a platform every month or two due to Covid.

Really a stupid position, OP. Maybe vanity? The vaccines (well, at least Phizer and Moderna) work well, there are virtually no side effects or risks (please don't quote any one-in-a-million cases), and it's crystal-clear now that the vaccines keep you out of the hospital. Is there really some valid counter to this, or is it just vague conspiracy theories versus proven results?

one reason for "hospital crisis" right now that is underreported - nurses/medical staff that refused shot are let go; thus shortage of good help...depending on CVX department (some less than others!) that could hurt the bottom line
They're checking vaccinations for employees and contractors before people go offshore. It's honestly a matter of time before it's required. Outbreaks on platforms and rigs shuts operations down for weeks, which costs big money. Time to stop making a vaccination political; seriously, have none of you traveled outside of the United States?
All this posts and comments are totally irrelevant. No one will come to office in the US until at least Jan 2022 or possibly even later, with virus mutating, the current vaccine is not going to help much. Relax and enjoy your way of life/liberties and worry about it later early 2022!

Companies are mandating so they don't get sued for doing the "right (wrong)" thing. They will mandate the vaccine but they are not going to check so you can say you got vaccinated and it will be on you. So what happens if you lie about getting vaccinated? Nothing happens to the company. Nothing happens to you. Those who are vaccinated are still getting COVID and passing it along. Nothing will change. Everyone can keep their jobs.

Will some leave yes. I have a good friend who is a VP at a company who just mandated it and they left the company. They are financially secure so they could make that choice, some will leave some will stay because they have to but will always have a bad taste in the mouth. Some already have the jab or a card so they don’t care.
