How worried should I be if I've found myself with less and less work in the past several weeks? This never happened to me before, I always had to struggle to finish everything in time. Now suddenly my workload has dropped by half at least. Has anybody had something similar happen to them?

If your boss don't give you important work that is a signal that you gonna get cut. Get ready.
It's really hard to be let go at Chevron, you have to be an underperformer for a year, get a bad PMP, then you have to fail at the remediation task during the next year , then... you get let go at next re-org, relax
Yes, as others have mentioned, regardless of the times, low work load means either what you do is less valued by the company, or your individual skillset is not up to par. Spend some time updating your resume, and start looking at what jobs are available 'out there'. If you really disagree with these, then it's time to have a serious discussion with your manager.
Epic. Who’s comes up with this cr-p. There is no way half the people working in Houston are contributing, directly or indirectly, anything to reducing costs or producing barrels.
Yes management is still trying to decide what an epic is, and once decided they will still take months more the figure out who will actually do the work. Enjoy your downtime. If you are really a hot starter, do some training (formal or self directed), get all you busy work polished off, and attend some useless management town halls. It will become busy again soon enough.
It’s back to school time and we’re back to WFH! No one is really working on anything right now. Relax.
Vacation season. This occurs every year at this time as parents rush to vacation before school starts. Don't worry September is coming.
I think everyone is on a pretty low workload these days, between WFH and fewer assets, projects, etc. The New Energy unit is partly a way to keep people busy while management figures out how to keep the company afloat in the mid term.
Less work, after a re-org,....uh. Open your eyes. You should come over to my BU and help with the backfill of the 50% FTE reduction (and same amount of work) after the re-org.
I’m dropping loads.
Take a hint. You are being warned to start looking for work elsewhere. I have seen this before.
Just tell your supervisor you’d like more work.
Good luck with that. Your a goner
What do you do?
I have plenty of work for you.
Yes. Start packing and getting your documents in order. The writing is on the wall.
